i can see where you would think that is a catapillar, as it certainly has that semblance, but i assure you it is a pistal. (if it was a cat, its butt would be hurting big time...note the size differential).

oops

forgot attachment. note the shape and end creases are not consistent with eggs. ( too late in year for most critters anyway). it must be part of the plants total frustration at not getting sex. or.........?

i think in some sense, that is preciselly what is happening. (bitchy balls?) when this discovery gets recognized, i want it named after my first wife!

Hmm very weird

I'd be temoted to pull one off and inspect it coz they look a bit out of place and also they seem to have a kind of ridged pattern on them in the more close up pictures, I wouldn't be too sure that they belong

The pic is a fruit moth egg. They go brown as they get closer to hatching.
