When can I pick the buds?

My question is, how long after the female plant shows sex, can you pick the bud?

Background info:
Dont know the exact time i planted them, but ill guess the middle of June. Give or take a couple of weeks.

Started with 11 plants but after slugs and the people next door tearing down a house and running over the plants (they lived but shocked the hell outta them),and 2 males; im down to 5plants.

1 grew hairs 2-3weeks ago im guessing, 3 are just growing hairs (im guessing they took longer bc they are thinner leafed plants. and the other 1 hasnt showed anything yet (but that was the 1 where the slug ate most of the plant but it did grow into a lil lil bush.

So when do you think they will be done & ready to be picked? the 1 that grew hairs a few weeks ago , the hairs started to brown/red at the tips.

And once picked what is the best way to store it? sealed jar in the dark? or hanging up side down in the dark?

As you can prolly tell im a new grower and this is my first time growing, so any advice or tips would be wonderful

P.s if pictures will help with any comments, then ill take the time to charge my cell phone and get out n take some.

oh and im in NEW YORK just wanted to say that bc my sn says MiamiBAYBAY

Monitor the colour of the trichomes. The exact timing is down to personal preference. A 60 X pocket microscope is essential equipment.

buying the 60x pocket thing isnt an option right now so is there any other way to just time it??? the leaves on the 1 plant that grew hairs a few weeks ago are starting to get crystals on the top part of the leaf ...if that means anything?

Donīt want to be rude, but if you are doing this you should be prepared to shell out a few bucks for basic gear.

Harvest on the full moon in October. Dry it hanging upside down. Cure it in jars.
