Ok the plant is about a foot tall been flowering for over an month the top buds and leaves have crystals growing all over them but only the top hairs are turning red only about 1/4 of them the rest are still bright white ill try and get some pics up when I find my dig cam cord. How do i know that the plant is ripe and rdy to be picked? small plant but buds are growing very thick so...... i think it started budding small cause it grew 1 ft in about 5 wks then started budding anyways ;p any help would be appreciated oh and i heard right b4 i pick the buds to water the plant with some chilled water so it thinks the first frost is at hand

Look at the trichomes. Essential grow equipment is a 60 X pocket microscope.

I have read that it is a good time to harvest when 1/3rd of the pistils are amber coloured.

I think you mean a third of the trichomes.

when 3/4 of the hairs are brown harvest, or us a mag glass and when heads on trichs turn milky opaque colour harvest.
