I'm just wondering what benefits does topping have versus lst I can think of many andvantages to lst and disadvantages to topping.. just wondering why people do it?

topping is a method of potentially increasing yield, by allowing more light to lower nodes by removing some of the canopy and also grows multiple colas, depending on how many times you top them.

I have a quick question regarding this topic:

My plants will be flowering very soon, is it worth it to top them again? or no. I've topped them once already, but I would like it to be bushier

Maybe its just me but I find that lst works just as good if not better than topping and U don't stress the plant.

lst does stress the plant - u know - l S t!! S for Stress!!
but once ur lst'd plant has grown out & been harvested, what do u do then?
Start some more seeds off with varying degrees of success???

Grow cuttings from the tops u cut off & ur 1 plant will provide u with many more - which in turn u can all grow out & harvest.

& take more clones from

The difference between LST and topping is that with LST you conserve all the original large branches/colas.

When you top, two branches do come out, but they are not new branches. When you cut the main cola, the two budsites from the 2 lower nodes will become your main colas. You removed the main cola so the plant gets confused and thinks that the next two branches are the main colas. It's not like new and more branches magically appear. Each time you top a branch you are essentially cutting it in half. The stem becomes smaller and smaller, thus making more but smaller colas.

With LST you tie down the main colas instead of cutting them. Just like toppping, the plant gets confused and it will start to push out it's lower budsites. All the while conserving the main large ones.

yes the 'S' stands for stress but more importantly the 'L' stands for 'Low' stress lol

Ya I see wut ur sayin but since I already am growing all clones except the few Mothers... I didn't want any more than I got and with those I am just tyin them down and they are nice and bushy. I don't see any difference with the ones I did top.

Ok great, I think my question is answered..
I have topped once already.. and I tied all the main branches down a few days ago (i know its kinda late, but better late than never i guess)

There is still some time for the plant to grow so hopefully she will bush out a bit more before harvest..

When does it become to late to LST ? Is there a cut off time, when you shouldn't LSt. And has anyone had any bad experiences LST'ing? Because this year is the first time im trying it, so i would like to know all the disadvanages and advanages......

And how loong before the plant adjusts to its new shape/position./>?<

ALso if anyone has any good pics of LST in action that would be great.........
