Outdoor technique

I've been talking to a friend of a friend of a friend about growing outdoors. Now this guys grows a lot of bud (not so good and stringy) outdoors. He told me that he digs his plants up and buries them until there is only about 6 inches above ground and does it again (leaving 12 - 18 inches above ground) before flowering. He said he gets big yields from this. I've seen his yield one year and there was a lot but he also grew many many plants. Has anyone ever tried such a thing? Would the staulk grow roots?

the stem will take root if submerged under ground but i see no advantage in doing that. the whole point of the vegetive stage is to grow a large frame for which bud can grow on later. the bigger and bushy the plant is the more bud you will get.

That doesn't right. Why would you cover up potentioal buds with dirt? I don't know that doing that would do to cause the plant to pick up budding. I wouldn't try this but you can do what you want.
