Do You Agree That West Hollywood Should Ease Restrictions On Marijuana?

(AP) WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. Marijuana smokers wouldn't have to worry about possessing small amounts of pot in West Hollywood or smoking it in private under a resolution approved Monday night by the West Hollywood City Council.

The resolution was approved 4-0 without discussion as part of the City Council's consent calendar. Councilman Jeffrey Prang, who works as a special assistant to Sheriff Lee Baca, abstained.

Officials say the resolution would make tell the L.A. County Sheriff's Department not to target adults who possess small amounts of pot or smoke it in private.

The council has already approved dispensaries of medical marijuana.

Councilman John Duran says he supports the marijuana enforcement resolution.

The council decided to take up the issue after a marijuana advocacy group began pushing for a ballot initiative regarding pot use.

Duran says the ballot initiative would cost the city thousands of dollars. Advocates have agreed to drop the initiative if council approves the resolution.

HAHAHA did you see that old guy in the video? I loved when they were interviewing him and it just said "pot smoker" under him.

hah. his joint was rolled pretty bad. it was barely even pulling... plus it had a case of the runs.

This is good news indeed. I hope this will press some other states to change their laws. As much as i love to see cali smokers lighting up in front of cops, i'd love it even more to see somone in DC do it, or anywhere else that doesnt have any decrim policies.
