For years government have hand fed ignorant people into believing weed is this evil thing. We need to have a huge sit in with signs and microphones. I know this has been done before but we need to make this the biggest one. In the future things are just going to get worse. I say send Barrack Obama a barrage of emails with facts about marijuana or have a massive showing of The Union to people. This needs to change !

You are so right! It's kind of sad in a way that people will just believe whatever the government tells them, without even second guessing it or doing their own research. People need to wake up and realize what's really going on around them. Some people have started to wake up, but not nearly enough.

While this is a great idea if you can get enough people (and I'm talking hundreds of thousands), there in lies the problem...getting enough people. The amount of time, effort, and money spent on organizing this would be way beyond what any of us stoners could handle. We would need the backing of a big organization such as NORML or something along those lines.

I agree with you completely. After all look at the insanity of morphine use in the 1800's and early 1900's but yet, it remains available for those in need, as it should. And I have sent Obama emails, along with verifiable information. It just seems people prefer to have something to bitch about rather than working towards a change.

In Vancouver BC about 3 times a year thousands of people gather downtown and smoke marijuana all day long. The local police can't really do anything about it, nor seem to want to do anything about it. These events are on 420 (April 20th) Cannabis Day (July 1st, Canada Day) and Jay Day (May 20th). It's really neat to see so many people getting together, swapping bud stories, and sharing joints. There is never fighting or disrespecting of public property like you would see if all those people were drunk. These are just a couple examples of why marijuana should at least be decriminalized! I'm also wondering if this happens anywhere else in the world on these days?

I already sent a person with power a email for my state about legalizing he replied ! And said hes already researching nd understands how it's safer than alchoal. Everyone send Barrack a email and fill his damn inbox up. All presidents have an agenda and we can't change it unless we work together

I just don't think that signs and protests and emails are really the way to go.

Not to sound negative, but that's pretty much been what the gay community has been doing since Stonewall, and look how far it's gotten us. No where. We've "won" marriage rights in just a couple of states with decades of work.

The thing is... signs, protests, emails... all of those depend on your target audience essentially granting you permission to change their minds. They have to be willing to sit through a lecture, or a speech, or read an email.

Think about something you just deeply, morally disagree with. That you've been taught your whole life is wrong, and evil. Are you going to sit down and read a three or four page email and suddenly change your mind?

Of course not. And neither are most people. They will delete emails, drive past protests, not notice signs.

We have to take an active approach. Initiates in all 24 states that allow it, and reasonable pro-pot folks getting into office, even if its just city council in your little town.

Its time to take some high ground. No more waiting quietly for permission to speak; we need to put the issue out there and put a little fire under it.

The information is out there, if people really wanted to know the truth they could find it for themselves. I don't think any amount of protesting or picketing is going to change peoples minds.

Not to say it doesn't do any good, it lets people know were not going away and forces them to look at realistic ways to cope with the "problem". but as far as informing the public, freeing their minds and bringing about a peaceful utopia I think ignorance is just far too bliss for most people.
