I think this will be great for the medical marijuana community. If you are able to manipulate the genes, you are able to manipulate the potency, thus being able to control the "doses" given to MM patients. I really think this info will help our cause in the push for legalization, or nationwide decriminalization.

that will just end up killing it for the people that have minor issues and would have to get the schwag.

they can add the THC producing gene into other plants now, make a thread about that.

Medical Marijuana was instituted to help people deal with pain and other problems, not just an excuse for any bum on the street to get a MM card and get high legally.

i know that but what youre saying would be giving a person who cannot feel what the other person feels the ability to dictate their dosage. yes doctors are trained for that but they dont have the research yet to have an exact science as to how weed effects each individual person.

I just read that on popsci.com. That will be interesting to watch.

Maybe now the USA can start growing industrial hemp.

This could be a potential way for the government to capitalize on the production of hemp and help stimulate the failing economy. Now, I guess that they feel they have more control over the plant hahaha. Always have to be in control over everything.

But, who knows,

maybe this will be a good thing for our country? And like one of the member's above previously stated, there will always be all sorts of street weed available to the public.

cool man... now all they gotta do is figure out how to manipulate the cocaine alkaloid in coca plants. there is only 0.3 to 1.5% of cocaine in the coca plant, meaning on average... you need a kilo of dried leaves to get 1 gram of cocaine. imagine a super weed that grew buds that contained 50% thc and the leaves contained 20-50% cocaine alkaloid. then you could grow one plant and get buds to smoke and yeyo to toot

i'd be in heaven.
