A canine sniff of property is not considered a search under the Fourth Amendment. There does not need to be prior reasonable suspicion prior to the canine sniff.Therefore, they do not need a search warrant. If the canine detects a drug in a locker or car(remember that a canine sniff of property is not considered a search) then officers can obtain a search warrant.

Honestly if your dumb enough to bring drugs to school then its your fault you get expelled. I know not to cross the street without looking both ways, so I dont do it. These kids have to learn to be responsable people. Your not acting responsable bringing a bunch of weed or pipes to school, would you bring weed on an airplane? Get baked at home, get your fucking education, and get baked after. Its scarry how many people I see who just dont give a fuck about their education... have fun at mcdonalds mofo. I'm from the area where the story in the OP originated.

It's not uncommon at all for high schools to require participation in random drug testing, and many school districts allow police to use drug dogs to search the campus frequently. It's not unconstitutional, and many people who live in the region think it's justified.

Not trying to beat a dead horse here, but everyone should keep in mind that the school is operating in place of the parents of the students when school is in session. The law has developed from this conceptualization.

There are limits, but schools have more authority over students than most young people think they should.

Honestly, that's what they get for bringing it to school. Everyone should know that schools have every right to search you, your possessions, your locker, and your car as they damn well please.

i just always park off school grounds the first time my truck got searched i have 20+ vic in my truck but they were hidden really good so now i avoid the situation and i park off campus regardless of if i have stuff or not

When I was in high school I never carried more than I could eat, and it never left my body. If you're gonna deal though, do it after or before school somewhere away from school.

I only ever brought bud on me a few times to school but I did hear of this happening where I am from. I do think that people shouldn't be bringing that stuff to school, but I also feel that its somewhat a form of entrapment in a way. just my opinion
