CONCORD, NEW HAMPSHIRE -- House members today defied expectations and passed a bill to reduce the penalties for possessing small amounts of marijuana, 193-141, overriding the recommendation of the Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee, which voted HB 1623 "inexpedient to legislate" last month.

I thought it passed but I was wrong. Now it just needs to be voted on by the NH Senate.
Up to a 1/4 oz will be decriminalized. At least it's a start!

That's great news!!! It passed by a good margin too: 193-141

But it still has to get through the Senate and it's not expected to be successful there. Even if
it does somehow get through the Governor has said he'll veto it

But you never know, maybe it'll pass through the Senate and the Governor will have been removed for being a jack ass by that time.

im not sure if you guys read the details of it, but they're kind of funky. Like if you had a quarter-ounce(or any mount for that matter) and you gave it to your friend(just gave not sell), and you were caught, then the previous marijuana laws come into effect and its an automatic felony with up to i believe 5 years and 2000 dollar fine. But hope is not lost, New Hampshires northern neighbors Maine is decriminalized.

All true but I think the best result of this is that the subject is actually being discussed by the NH lawmakers. It seems as though governments are afraid to even bring up the topic of cannabis, perhaps because they know that the penalties outweigh the crime (or lack thereof) and as we all know politicians do not want to come off as being "soft" on drugs.

The legalization fever is spreading!
