hey kids
here is the weekly update..Betty is doing very well as you can see. She is starting to really stink like ripe grapefruits. She has been flowering since 11/6. she is covered with sugar and has not even had her cha-ching yet (tomorrow) when she will begin to get truly crusty..My battery crapped out on the digi so i cant post pics of molly or bethel til tommorow..

VTEC i think my ph meter is screwed up, any ideas on where to get a new one cheap? Thanks..

I don't think digital pH meters are cheap anywhere. You can get a crap soil pH tester by Rapi Test at hardware stores and nursery's. You can also get the hydro pH tester cheap at the same places. Otherwise, for best accuracy, go for digital pH and PPM meters here: http://www.insidesun.com/index.php/a...0/id/7/subid//

Your plants look nice. Obviously not grown under LED alone. I don't think LED would be capable of that unless the highest wattage bulb is used and there are a shit load of them.

Thanks VTEC..The crap soil tester is what i have now..what a fickle peice of shit it is..I shall save up and get the digi you suggested.
Yes there is no way this plant was flowered under all LED'S, esp the ones that i have. They did however help to develop the buds down at the bottom. I read a thread on digg where a kid said that the traffic lights are not quite the correct spectrum. He didn't elaborate on their particular spectrum, i dont know if he's full of shit or not, but if he is right, that would explain alot of the problems i had. If i find out this is in fact true, do you think when i re-wire them with the amber and far red that there is any point in using them at all or just start over with brighter ones that i know are in the exact spectrum? I didnt spend alot on them, but i hate waste and don't know what else to do with them..
How is your arm dude?

You don't necessarily have to spend the money to get the digi. Those are more worth it if you are growing hydro. Maybe if you got the hydro pH tester you can test the run-off and get the Rapi Test too and for about $15 you have a good idea what the pH is. That's what I do.

Yeah, I thought the street lights would not be the right spectrum. I would just use the extra ones you have and put them together in a light that can supplement the bottom of the plants. Then get these lights: http://www.luxeon.com/
We are using the Luxeon III Emitter http://www.luxeon.com/products/family.cfm?familyId=7

Thanks man. Arm hurts pretty bad towards the evening and night time but it is healing. Hopefully in 3 weeks or so they can fit me for the device.

I am very intreged with the concept of growing with LEDs. Heat was a problem for me before so i was thinking about getting this starter kit: http://www.ledgrowlights.com/sales_retail.htm

Someone mentioned before that these arent as strong? Is it still worth getting and can i just run the full light spectrum for all stages of growth?

I have yet to see a grow completed only under these LED's.
I think they might not be right for some reason. If you have the dough to experiment, please do so.

Read the thread dude..and don't believe evrything you read on an internet site trying to make money. Once you buy the lights, you will see why it doesnt work.
good luck to you

VTEC i had to give the camera i borrowed back to my buddy for a trip he's going on, that's why there's no pics.. I harvested Betty yesterday, i got 4 huge colas off her, besides a few side branches. They are the biggest colas i have produced yet from this strain. Her first two weeks in flower were under all led and the last 6 under HPS and LED.

Congrats on the harvest buddy.
I think I will start a new LED thread when the time comes. That way you don't have to go through 10 pages of info to see what's going on. Any objections to this or should I just keep this thread? I am, not ready to grow under the LED's yet but, when the seeds I am germinating bear a mother, I will clone her and get them under the LED's.

thanks VTEC ... I think a new thread for your LED experiment when you are ready is a fine idea. I can't wait to see how it comes out. Happy New Year everyone

High guru and VTEC! This has sparked my interest. The electric cost is an obvious factor. But what about heat output? Im guessing is lower, right? will the boards have to be right up next to the plant to be effective?
***gears start turning in TBug's head as he fades to dream vission***
I see an entire wall full of LEDs. Amongst the lights, several MJ plants spread out accrosed it. Growing more like a vine or ivey than a normal plant...That would be cool!
Peace, TBug
