plants leafs

HI, im chris im new to this board and i hope to get to know u guys and u to know me this is my first post and i was wondering.

I have a plant and some of the first leaves that grew on the plant turn yellow and brown curled up and died.Is this bad, and will they grow back.

Were going to need more info on your grow so we can help, if you can post what lights you are using and also what types of plant food or fertilizers you were feeding the plant, size of pots they were in, room type they were in, and also the strain if you know what that was. Then we can surely help you out alot better.

sorry i dont think i know most of that, im using sunlight and it is in my living room. im new at this, this is my first grow. it is also in a small pot could that be the problem?I dont use feriltizer and plant food should i? what kind?my leafs first turn yellow and the viens of the leafs to, then it browns in the middle then curls up and falls off.let me try to tell u about my plant it is stretching kind of like it is a long stem and alot of leafs at top none near bottom ill try to get some pics of it on.also its stems are now turning red and it is not budding yet maybe that will help.

try to find out how many watts it is, and how high is it from the plants i know its to high right now

I would say the sun is about..oh, you know...100 gazillion watts in total, give or take a few...

In other words, a five gallon bucket would probably suit your needs, that is if you didnt tke his first reccomendation...which was...get rid of the plant...(you know...because its fucked?)

Now I am no genius when it comes to ferts......either. I have been using peters 20-20-20 once every two weeks, at a week mix (i would go half, as what ive read tends to suggest that 20-20-20 is pretty high., shultz also makes a product that looks decent and has been reccomended a few times around here)

the natural cycle of the sun lasts about what? 13 hours this time a year?

Look, get some flourescents at the very least, this is all I could afford, so It is what im using, they are working fine for a first grow, and I will move on to bigger and better equip, on the next one. put them (the lights now, Im using 2 40 wats, if you can get more, do it) a few inches from the top of the plant, and get a good fertilizer, (check around on here for some more info., I cant reccomend a good one yet, not that experienced.) and transplant that baby into a five gal. food grade bucket. (so the sun doesnt break it down, because you can still supplement your plant with the big guy in the sky)
I was told to mix 2/3 soil with 1/3 perlite or vermiculite, for the soil mix. its working well, I think i would add a bit more perlite next time though if I go the same route, because the soil still packs a bit too much, but get a good potting soil for transplanting in. make note if its prefertilized or not, and adjust your fert solution to compensate, makes sence to me anyway that this would be a good idea. you can start flowering from a foot on up, If i remember correctly, sativa strains will grow 3 times? the size it was when forced, so go soon unless you want a monster, (12 hours of light 12 hours complete and total darkness...that means, no peaking at her while she is asleep ;-). look around this site for any more information...dont just take my suggestions as facts, Im pretty green no pun intended) with this growing stuff, just trying to help a bit, and I hope i did.)

when its yellow its usually to much water or its to close to the light and brown is obviously dead

the numbers that they are referring to are, what is called N-P-K it's the active chemicals in the fert.....N=Nitrogen, P=Phosphorus, K=Potassium.....it will on the fert box somewhere say 3 numbers like 20-20-20.....this is 20% of each.....when flowering you would change to a fert using more Phosphorus...like 20-60-20....the link that woody gave you is a great help when starting out.....i just finished my first grow...from 1 plant i got 5oz which i was very happy with, due to help from Blades here at the city....to do this you have to read up first and then if you're still unsure ask and someone will answer....hope that helps you.....Peace out....Sid
