i have about $100-150 to spend on a light (the less i spend the better)

ive been doing some research online but some sites seem illigitimate so i was hoping someone could inform me as to which light i should buy and from where. if i have to pay a little extra money to make sure my light gets here and my personal information isnt sold so be it.

i was thinking a 150w hps sun system but obviously (you can see from this post) i dont have my heart set on it.

im not sure if that would work in this case. i have to get the tape measure out tomorrow. i hope it fits, though. that seems to be the best deal ive seen so far.

I would tell you if I had a measuring tape. It's somewhat large, as in it barely fits in my closet. Then again, my closet isn't that big. I'd e-mail insidesun and ask if I were you.

on the net at htg supply.com[high tech garden supply]],,,they took a money order thru the mail,,very discreet shipping,,no name on the box,,just a packing slip enclosed with tape,,youd have to rip it off and open it to find out where the box came from,,,there privacy policy sounds good on there webpage.....i got a 400 hps..with mhconversion bulb,,,ahps bulb a dual outlet timer,,the socket,reflector,,,ready to go delivered to my house for 205.00 that aint bad,,,they have a lot of package deals,,,,,inside sun too me is too high on there prices....peace hope it helps...

You gotta find their refurbished stuff. If I recall it's not really obvious that it's there if you just go to "Grow Lights", but if you click "Best Sellers" you'll find some of it. Also, their 400W HPS System is only $135, new, w/ bulb. I guess it's not a MH conversion bulb though, and it doesn't come with a timer (which are only $7 at stores anyway). Also their MH conversion bulb is only $40. Shipping is another $25 or so. So the price ends up being the same... unless you get their refurbed 400W system, which is only $90. So you save about $40 w/insidesun, and that's including going to a store and buying a timer.

Has anyone every tried led grow lights - I am concened about electric and heat generation from using a regular lighting system.

go to ebay.com and try to get a 4oo watt ballast that uses both medal hilad and hps 2 is better than one dont get lower than 400 watt

flourecents really aint bad,,very low on heat a long bulb life,,they make veg.,,,bulbs..and bloom bulbs,,,i use 4 flourecents for just germinated seeds,,till there about 6'' tall,,the ballast and bulb of a h.i.d. light does generate a lot of heat ,,,if you say you have a small area, id strongly reccommend the flouros..the earlier poster was right anything lower than a 400,,,,youd be better off going the flouresent way,,,,,,the website i directd you to has these in 5 tube or 8 tube,,,,depending on the size of your grow,,,,ill tell you this,,[not knocking the flouros]]you will be much more pleased with a h.i.d. light,,,flouros. to me take too long ,,when i move mine out of the flouros and put them under that 400 m.h.,,,,they take off,,,,,if your really intrested in flouros ill check later here and tell you a way to save a lot of monay,,,with one trip to lowes,,and build you a nice set uo ,,,,,,the reflective hood alone at a store,,,will run 45.00 for a full spetrum ''cool'' bulb,,,

a little side note most if not all our grows take place in our homes,,,now saying that, i dont trust a refurb.[refurbished light],,,,new or nothing,,,ill refurb my light if something happened to it,,,to each his own thats why theres hundreds of different automobiles,,,,,its all good....
