Germinating Disaster?!

well today i recieved 6 seeds of "Trainwreck" i put them b/w 4 wet paper towels and i placed them inside a XBOX game case. I put them on a table and about 5 inches above the case so it wouldnt be too cold and i left to go run some errands and when i came back some how? the light tip over and began to melt the top of the case not fully just a lil (btw is was a sun glo incandesant (sp?) light alot lower temp then normal lights also i wasnt planning to use them for my growing anyways just to keep the case a lil warm) well heres my dilema when i opened the case the paper towels were still wet but they were steaming some so i imeddiatly doused the, with some cold distilled water and that is what happened. my question is "are the seeds ruined now b.c of the temperature of the light? and they are a lil discolored a tiny bit

I will try to get some pics a lil later they are currently inside another paper towel with some cool paper towels

thank you

ROFL you bumped it 20 minutes after making it?

If they didn't get burned they should be ok.

Be more careful.

80 should be fine, that's about what mine are in here http://forum.grasscity.com/general-indoor-growing/82000-making-my-veg-area.html

Mostly for clones but seeds come up fine, I just throw mine in soil though.

what was the ambient temp in your germ area

I've germed in folded papertowel inside an altoids tin (cleaned completely in scalding water) on the back of my monitor with the towel being soaked but not dripping

they almost all popped even after sitting in a drawer for over 4 years I was taken by surprise and had to frantically convert 2liters for all the extras lol anywho the tin got pretty hot to the touch the under side of the towel was usually close to that with the folds being almost like a steam room

you're trying to soften the hard husky shell of the seed and supply moisture to the seedling

unless it melted the plastic into it badly you may be ok

Some seeds take a while dont expect them to pop out as soon as you start to germinate them, just keep them in the xbox case and gently mist or spoon some water over them everyday, and put them in a warm place.

I had one that took about 4 days to germinate.

check out my thread on germination..its in my siggie.

Also , they should be alright, aslong as the roots didn't suffer any heat damage, no matter how light.
