Need more info on lights plz read and help out!!!

Hey guys I need some more lighting info.
I have a 400Watt HPS with 50,000 lumens and my question is should I use a different light at the Germination/Veg state and then use the HPS for flowering period? Or go full HPS through out till harvest?
Little room info:
1 400Watt Hps (on a lifter so can raise and lower the light as needed)
Room is like 8x8 growing 3plants atm
Run a Circulating fan full time
room is wrapped in reflective foil to spread the light evenly


My plants now are in the flowering stage so Just wanting some added info for next time.
HPS works well from what I have seen but some say I should use Hailde lights to start for a overall stronger plant. I am not new to growing but not a pro either any help would be much appreciated.
Also anyone have better success with different light hrs?
I run 18/6 for first month then go 12/12

Sounds like your doing wat you do right.
But you can plant more plant, i would do 5-6 with that 400watt.


Some people use the metal hiale in vagetation stage, because its rays penetrate the canopy better making its nodes closer together and bushy. then switch to HPS when flowering.


but i wouldnt bother with it and i would use the hps the whole time.

i use 27/0 for 2 weeks ( seedling stage), then switch to 18/6 till i feel they are big enough to suit my liking, and then switch to 12/12 for about 8-10 weeks

Wouldnt it be benifical to use both a Hps buld AND a MH bulb? As wouldnt useing them both at the same time better cover the "Spectrum" needed to emulate sunlight?

Yup, but some people don't have enough room to use both at once. That would build up a lot of heat in too small of a space.

Yeah i also have a MH and a HPS i would def just use the HPS. The MH is nice to use for about a week i sall because it did cause them to get a lil bushier, but then it kinda stunted using it so i switched back to HPS and it seems to work a little better.

i suggest that you use white flouresnt light during seedling and veg cause the hps might be too much for the little ones at first and i would use the 400 hps just for flowering

I use both 1000watt HPS and 1000watt MH, side by side (2ft apart) in my flowering room. I like the MH during flowering - I personally think it makes the buds BIGGER and the previous post it correct, my nodes are MUCH closer together, I usually end up with 12-16" main colas weighing close to 1/2oz (dry)...

But all you really need is an HPS and you will get really good results...
