best sexing method

I have started a few plants. They're only about a week old and I was reading up on sexing them early. Some places I've read aboutconverting them to 12-12 after about 4 weeks then putting them back to veg. Others say this is too stressful and could kill your crop. I've heard about the paper bag over a growth tip and the clones, which is the best and easiest to do for a new grower. BTW I am in a very small grow space, so I can't afford to have any males, seeing as they will pollinate my girls.

i would say some strains might hermie on you going back to veg straight after sexing but ive never had any probs.....just go back to 18hrs slowly like an hr every 2 days or so....

ive heard of the bag method but never tried it myself....i think that would be a better way to go for you as it wont add any extra time to your grow....thats if it works that is....

I wouldn't recommend putting the plant into 12/12 and then back to veg after the it shows it sex, it won't kill your crop but will stress the plants and extend the grow time...plus if you wait the 4 weeks most plants will show preflowers at that age so there will be no need...as for the taking clones and flowering them well that would take quite a bit longer since you need to first get the plant big enough to take clones then determine the sex from that...If I were you i'd just wait for preflowers or use the bag over a branch method you'd be set... oh and don't worry about them pollenating over night...you have a good 4-7 day minimum from when the plant shows male pre-flowers to when it pops it's sacks so just be patient and hope for ladies!

Ive always heard that the 12-12 then back to veg is a bad idea. Stress of plants can lead to undesired effects. Best idea is to pay close attention when you start your force flowering. Males usually sex early so keep an eye out. Good luck and happy growing!!!

but how do you change it when you see that its turning male, or can you?...also im in my 2nd gen and my plants havent started sprouting after about 2weeks should i be concerned because my first gen didnt take as long. send me a email if you could at punkrockplaya75@aol.com because im not on the forum a lot... thanks

I think there is a clinic in Switzerland that performs that procedure... ; -)

Take a clone of your plant when it is in veg. Once the clone is rooted, throw it on 12/12 (while the mother is still in 18/6 and vegging). One that clone shows sex, you'll know if the donor plant is male or female. If it's male, pitch it. If it's female, it's nice that it got that extra week or three while you were rooting a clone and sexing it.

Hi yall, total newb here. So glad i found this site. I think i can sex a plant now.....give it a few glasses of wine.......dinner.....but i was curious about the paper bag thing? And how do you go about cloning?Do you clone a branch with some root stuff? Do you clone as soon as you know its a lady?Can you clone at any stage of growth?
