picture of my hydro set up

sup all here is a picture of my set up, I had to draw it with Paint cuz my mom took back her boyfriends digital cam, but I will get it back when my plants start growing so I can take some nice pics of my progress, if you guys have any tips for a first time hydro grower please share them, I read alot on the forums but im sure I still missed alot of important info!

what type your medium lava rocks? i would use flood and drain method and coming on twice a day for 1 minute not enough.i would recommend once every hour for 15 mins or put a t connector till the end of the pipe and only use 1 pump for a sort of nft setup making the run off at the end of the tray.i would read a bit more or save for a premade setup...best of luck with the project

well for my setup right now 1 minute twice a day is too much, I need to drill bigger holes so the water drains faster, as for my medium right now all I have are the plants in the rockwool cubes sittin in the tray with about 1 inch room under them for the roots to hang, when my pumps come on it fills my tray alll the way they will over flow unless i turn them off after about 30 seconds. Im gonna be getting either clay balls or lava rocks to put at the botom to keep the light off of the roots, which one you think would work better? also we spent 100 bucks on fertilizer today, we got "Rockwool Magic Hydroponic Nutrient" I will be taking pictures of the grow room sometime next week after I get a digi cam

you will need to sort the drainage out......are they in 3"cubes?if they are why not buy a piece of corex think that the name of it and cut out for the cubes and use a spreader mat for the roots to grow on... then you wont have to use clay pebbles or lava rocks.you are also going to need a truncheo for testing the nute strength and a ph test kit.If you had a photo of the set up I may be able to offer a bit more advice................

Well thanks for ur advise, but my set up is working VERY nice, the plants are growing at an amazing rate.... i have only had them for a week and they already grew 8 and a half inches!, I been trimming them a bit, I cut off a few of the bigger fan leafs at the top that way the rest get more light becuase i only have 1 light for 12 plants, and evey time I cut off a leaf about 3 - 4 more pop up the next day, its quite nice, the only bitch about doing hydro that ive found out it is changing the res bucket when it gets all nasty n shit after a week or 2

Glad to see the set up is going very nice,use paper clips to bend the leaves back instead of trimming,have you them in indivual pots?if not what you plan on doing to any males?read,read and always try and think ahead.... happy growing

they are in the same container type thing, but roots are doing fine, and they are all clones so there are no males... everything seems to be going just fine, we will wait for flowering before I get too cocky =D
