Re: nutes and molasses

Yeah hey ed I read a ton of posts recently about molasses. Lots of people flush with molasses and say it adds pleasant undertones after the cure. A couple knowledgable sounding people say that it's bad, just adding harsh empty carbs and bitter smoke. So I'm confused.

I bet it doesn't matter a whole hella, because your plant will be friggin drippin by then anyway with that kick ass cfl array you've got .

Re: nutes and molasses

Eh, if I were you, I would finish off the last 2-3 weeks with something like Cha-Ching. Molasses is a huge source of Potassium, so all you're doing with the Molasses basically is replacing a fertilizer that is high in Potassium.

I would use the Molasses up til the week before last. All the Potassium does is make the buds swell. Something like Cha-Ching will put the resin production into overdrive. I'd use this the last 2-3 weeks of harvest. The last watering should be nothing but clean water. Water 2-3 days before harvest. This will help with the drying/curing process.

Re: nutes and molasses

Based on everything I've read (including one really long 20-page thread full of opinions and info about molasses) I went and bought some Brer Rabbit blackstrap, which has the highest Potassium of all the typical kinds of molasses usually found in stores. I've been using it all through flowering, which for the lowryders started at 22 days. It seems ok, no harm done, but I have little to compare it to, this being my first grow.

I've been mixing about 2-3 teaspoons per gallon, along with regular nutes. Maybe I'll do like you, and cut out the nutes and just use molasses water for the last couple weeks.

If you are using high end neuts and the schedual that comes with most neut mixes then the molasses is not adding anything your plant need. these neut companys put all your neut needs in the grow\bloom bud setting mix and all the rest, if you add molasses you are probably feeding too much of whatever may be in the molasses.....just my opinion

To get a better understanding of the way to get the most benefits from molasses this article should be read and considered. Molasses is basically carbohydrates, which are a good food source, especially for microbes in the soil.......but it is easy to overdue it. There is also macro and micro nutrients, (the minerals.)

EVH.......your FloraNova Grow is a stand alone fertilizer, and a good one I might add. Try to resist the temptation to overdue the different food sources you give your plants, especially early in. If you overdue the minerals, toxicity can begin, which can cause nute lock-out.

I honestly wouldn't use molasses until the last 2-3 weeks of flower while using FNG/FNB, and then I would only use it once or twice.

Take care,

chunk
