sex?

so ive got six plants growing in a little box that i built after germination i had them on 24 hr MH lighting for 3 weeks. once they were about 6 inches tall with 2-3 sets of leaves i switched over to 12/12 HPS lighting. it has been 15 days since this switch. The plants are all between 8 and 15 in high now with multiple sets of 7 serrated leaves, but i still cant distinguish sex. i am a new grower so i have a couple questions:

1.) is this a troublesome sign? is there something i should be doing differently?

2.) does this growth rate seem normal? i was expecting a little faster growth but again im new to this.

3.) is it possible i am just having trouble distinguishing the pistils and the pods? ive heard new growers sometimes have trouble with that.

3.) Nthe grow box is completely contained in a basement closet so im POSITIVE no light is getting in. why else might these plants be slow to show their sex?

1. No. No. You should see tiny flowers sometime in the next week.

2. Yes. When they are young they grow slower and when you first put them into flower they slow down for a few weeks. They are reconfiguring their cycle.

3. Yes, very possible.

4. Some strains might be slower than others, I am not sure. I think since you are a new grower you just might not be sure what to look for. Look on the nodes for a pod with two tiny white hairs poking out. Patience.

yeah mang waterfarmer is head on. take his advice. since your new your prolly doing what every does and stresses a little. shit i remember my first grow, ahh those were the days thinking i did something wrong cause there was any HUGE buds on like week four. shit once you get going at this and read up on things you'll be at ease(not saying you havent read up on things,just when i started i didnt know a lot of weight gets put on in the last weeks) and again he's right, each strain is different, you can have one that will show signs in a lil more then a week or ones that take longer. it all comes with time! hope you get some dank stuff dude!

Would a Grodan 3" block of rockwool be large enough to grow a plant till it's able to be sexed?
I'm getting ready to germ (hopefully tonight yet), and I'm only going to do one plant. Don't know if I should plant one and wait to see what it is, or if I should plant a couple?
The only problem is, I only have one site once they outgrow the rockwool, so I need to sex beforehand, or only try one...

Some strains will not show sex until they are mature, no matter when you throw them in 12/12. Could be why yours are slow.

I use 3" rockwool. Yes, it will suffice.
