My first grow(comments Welcome)

With out further to-do, here is the start of my first grow. I picked up the perfect undercover grow box a few years back and been using it as a dresser with drawers but i gutted it recently to start this grow. This is my first post but not my first visit, been creepin around lately and jumped in now that i have something to show Basically my plan is to follow what i have interpreted from this website, friends and what i feel is best. I am doing to learn, so any comments are appriciated, but for now things are looking ok, i have pics coming!!
Specs: I am using-
7, 27w CFLs, 1400 lumens, 5500K
Spaced about a foot from the top of the plants. (should they be closer?)
There are 4 "buble gum" babies growing right now. They are about a week and a half give or take a day, and there about 3 inches tall and 3.5 inches wide at the leaves which you will see in the pics.
Lights on 24/0, watering a little bit every day but i think i have been drowning them. Im going to let them soak it all in before i water a again. the water is from the 25 cents for a gallon fountains, no nutes yet. have fox farms big bloom and grow big ready for my next gallon which will be after the next water.
Hmm what else, oh yes soil is fox farms ocean forest. There is nothing mixed with it which i am seeing my have been a mistake in hind sight but everything is looking good so far. lets gets some pics up...

Re: My first grow(comments Welcome)

get the plants to within 3-4 in of the lights. just watch for heat. make sure you have a fan blowing in there. and some way to exhaust the heat. i would also suggest painting your walls flat white untill you can get some mylar or something if you are going to.

if you want to see how 6 cfls can grow a plant check out my sig #2. i just harvested yesterday.

I'm not quite as far along as you are, but in the works. I'm also using cfl's, so I'll be watching how your grow comes along. Mine aren't the same wattage as yours (I'm only using 23's), but I'll only be doing one plant... Bubblegum is good stuff, hope it all works out for you.

hello, welcome to growing. everything looks great, you're well on your way to success. Its good to see a new guy that has done his homework.

I agree tho, i would lower those lights, CFLs work alot better up close. of course, watch your temps. Try not to over water your plants, after you water them the soil should be like a wet sponge. After that let the soil dry up some, it hepls root growth. Good choice of water btw, the 25 cent machines are cleaner than tap. They look big enuff to start them on big bloom, it won't burn them. Start the grow big in small servings... that stuff can burn your plants easily. Burns usually show 2-3 days after added, keep an eye out.

You made no mistake with the soil, FFOF works great straight out the bag.

Re: My first grow(comments Welcome)

Thanks guys. Mylar is on the way, budget restrictions kept me from doing it. I moving the light closer to the plants, last night after posting. Lots more growth for the day, maybe wishful thinking

one plant seems content to lean to the side though, i am thinking about fixing a support to help her upright but i think that if i let her lean over, i can let her grow more. IDK thoughts?

also i seem to have really really small bugs flying around and hope someone here has i good method of keeping pests out.

As far as everything else is going just going to let em be. thanks guys.

BTW how can i move this post over to journals?

Re: My first grow(comments Welcome)

bumpski update.
So i rearranged the lights as you will see in the photos. I call this the nucleus and you will see why. Lights are closer and the light is more equally spread.

I also now have a problem with 2 of my babies. they are leaning like crazy now. As you will see in the pics i have tied one back up, super temparary, but i was also thinking that this could be beneficial if i want to use LST which i do, and will begin prolly this week.

Well thats about it. Any comments are welcome!!

Re: My first grow(comments Welcome)

do you have a fan blowing on the plants themselves to thinken the stalk? thicker stalk helps more bud. also you might want to consider lsting the plants to help keep them low and increase yield

also the 26/23w cfl lights are almost identical. just depends on the manuf of the bulb as to what they are labeled but the lumen output seems to be very close. im sure a few of mine are 23w and others are 26. and my grow is finished. i dont know when i will get to start again. just got laid off and am looking for another job atm so my new grow may have to wait.

Re: My first grow(comments Welcome)

Hey, that lankiness is from having the light too far. -- I made the same mistake. They will pick themselves up just fine once you move the light closer. - Might take a week.
good luck
