Re: Finished My First Grow Box

I figured that in order to install the mylar I need to take out everything and install everything on top of a double layer of mylar. I'll secure the edges with Aluminium foil tape but what about the centers? Should I use staples? or nails? or double sided tape? glue? What do you guys suggest?

Re: Finished My First Grow Box

hey just a thought, i know your trying to do a stealth grow but ive read that having the carbon filter in the same room as you grow can really tone down the aroma of your budski's. i use tape to hold up my mylar. if you do use staples though, make sure you use a small piece of cardboard(cut up soda box) and staple on top of that, it'll keep you from ripping it cause it will very easily.

Re: Finished My First Grow Box

So I just got my lighting system setup.

A Hydrofarm T5 2' 4x light 83W fluorescent 6400K for starting seedlings/early vegging and the above mentioned 250 MH/HPS system for vegging/flowering.

First I noticed that this system heats up my room better then the 1500W portable heater and it's only at most 400W!

My room got up to 80F! Even at this temp the system kept "cool" relatively at 85 with 250W system on and about 88 with both systems on. I'll open up my window tonight and see how the system handles.

I put on those poles across (they're easily removable) for drying the bud.

Re: Finished My First Grow Box

you definitely have your stuff, but that is NOT enough room for vegging AND flowering, even with lst.

if i were you, id take off that bottom shelf, and use something else to veg in only because while vegging your plants have no choice but to stay smaller, rather then switching into flowering they double and almost triple in size. its also pointless to have an mh and an hps bulb unless your going to veg with that mh, but thats not possible with two seperate chambers obviously. im sure you know that during flowering they LOVE the 2700k spectrum.

also those temps will drop dramatically taking that ballast out of there, if your worried about people seeing it then just get some cheap thin ply wood and make a little box, mount the ballast on the outside and use wood glue (preferably gorrilla glue) and set it over the ballast, just make sure that the ballast is not completely sealed, and none of the wood is touching the actual BALLAST itself.

im absolutely positive that after you A) take that shelf out and allow more air flow throughout your environment, and B) get that ballast out of there, you wont have any worries with temps.

but then again thats just my honest oppinion

extremely thought out environment built with tender love and care, props ^_^. cant wait to see that thing in action bruhdda, good luck with your grow and i will definitely keep posted

Re: Finished My First Grow Box

I'm no expert, but I agree about taking that shelf out. You could try your first grow without it (much better temperature management) and see how it goes.

Later, once you're accustomed to how your (freaking awesome ) system function, you can get fancy and try a separate veg section (or not).

Re: Finished My First Grow Box

Ok, so I finally have everything up and running in my new room! Everything's done except the Mylar. I've got some velcro tape that I'll use to tape up the front door. I don't think It will be feasible to Mylar up the other sides. Final pics are posted!

Yeah I took the Ballast out and the Temp Dropped 6 Degrees F! Thanks for the Advice. Right now I'm just starting my seedlings dark on the bottom. Ounce They're vegging on MH I'll update you guys with Temps. Right now I'm looking at my monitor and it reads 76 F in the humi-dome at 98% rH.

I did mine the same way, to block light but allow air flow I bought one of thoses black pvc sink traps.
