Soil Question...

Hello all...

I just finished my first grow, and am in the planning stages of my second grow.

For my first grow I used MG potting soil...the kinda with 3 months of "time released" nutes. And while I harvested 6 oz's from 3 plants (grew with a 4' x 8 bulb T5), on a scale of 1 to 10, the potency of each is probably around 4 to 5. Not too impressive.

Would using better soil increase the potency of a given genetic? Meaning...how much of a factor is really good soil (over MG potting soil) going to effect potency, and how much is just inherent in the plant's genetics?

Lastly...what are people's opinions of MG potting soil? I hear both positive and negative all over the various forums.

Soil is only one piece of the puzzle. You need to upgrade everything to get better buds. Its more than likely your lights or nutes that contributed to having less than perferrable buds.
