Problems with 2 of my plants!

Hey guys I'm having a few problems with my plant, and was hoping I could get some advice. I know no pictures, sorry don't have a camera.

Ill start by telling what I'm using.
Soil: Miracle Grow organic.
Water: Water that has been sitting for 2 days. ( I water when 2in inside the soil is bone dry)
Ferts: None
Lights: 136w 6500k cfl and 82w 2700k cfl
Fan: 1 osculating fan left on high all the time.

I have 3 plants growing under a homemade reflector with the cfl about 5-6in away inside a decent size closet which I open regularly to let air in an out. 2 plants are in small pots and 1 I left in a party cup. (this one is actually very green and looks to have no problems).

So my problem is the two that are in pots, the bottom portion of the plant gets worst as it gets closer to the dirt. The top is a nice lush green color but as you start to get lower the leaves start yellowing and have brown spots. And gets worst till you get to the bottom. Also some of the leaves are all crazy formed (like curling kinda weird). I'm LST'ing the plant so some of the really bad leaves are touching the dirt. (don't know if thats bad) but also checked for bugs and cant find any.

Any suggestions would be great and I know its hard to tell without pics, but even a guess would do. Thanks guys.

Sorry mate, without pics it's hard to diagnose any problems. I would try to not let the leaves touch the ground though.

Yellowing is a sign of age. Leaves turn yellow and die out naturally, but it's because they're old. If they're yellowing early it's usually a sign of Nitrogen deficiency.

Without pics we can't help much.

Are you letting the soil get a little to dry?

Im thinking it could also be a lighting issues. my plants on the bottom will start to have yellow leaves, ill just prune them off. It's the canopy you mostly want growing..

The plant wastes energy trying to regenerate those dead leaves. prune it and it will put that energy to the top

Re: Problems with 2 of my plants!

what did you make the reflector out of and how far is the light away from the plants? try not letting the soil 2 inches deep get too dry. may be not enough water. water when the visible soil looks like it needs water about every other day

Re: Problems with 2 of my plants!

I made a reflector out of duct and a bathroom light fixture the lights are about 5inches or so away. I water every 2-3 days I stick my finger in till it hits my knuckle and if its dry I water and if its still moist I wait another day.

So do you guys think I should just trim the leaves off? And if so just rip it off? or cut half?

P.s. I just read and it seems to be a mixture between nitrogen or magnesium deficiency. However I couldn't find anything for the little brown dots on the bottom leaves.

I just trimmed all the yellow leaves and gave her some water. Any idea what the brown is all over them? I know its hard to explain without pics, but it looks like they were burned in just random spots all over the midsection of the plant.

What's your water PH? Could be lockout.

To OP, lockout is when your plant's pH is off by too much, so the plant stops absorbing nutrients.

I don't think this is a case of lockout though. He is using Miracle Grow organic without ferts. I doubt the pH is the problem. It could be a deficiency however. But without pictures, I really can't do much.

You should not have done that. If your plant is discolored like that, it is a sign of some kind of stress or deficiency. Cutting them off just adds more stress to the plant. Expect some stunted growth over the next few days.

Great. well its my first grow I wasn't really expecting to much but hey if I get something out of it then I did alright and next time will be all that much better.

Is pruning not the same thing as trimming?

It is, but it just isn't a good idea to mess with a plant too much if it is already stressed out.
