I see people going into varying ammounts of darkness right before harvest....

Can someone explain to me the benefits to this? I don't see any standard out there.

some believe the dark period stresses the plant to produce more thc before the chop.
Ive found it just makes trimming a pain...

increasing your dark period by 1or 2 hours decreaseing night time temps lets your plant know that its going from summer to fall and your plant will finish faster and produce more resin to catch pollen. 24 hours darkness i have never tried.

that's a good plan, but i don't think straight 24 hours of darkness would be that beneficial as it still uses light for photosynthesis.

Does anyone know about how much, what kind, etc. of stress to give the plant before harvest? Does stressing it before harvest even have any effect?

I have read a lot about stress in general ultimately lowering the quality and quantity of the yield, not so much about purposely stressing a plant before harvest.
