Question A question about CFL

I am totally new to growing. I want to grow one plant for my first grow, give it my full attention and learn a lot in the process. How many CFL bulbs should I use for just one plant? I know to use 6500k for veg and 2700k for flowering....just not sure about wattage and how many I will need for each stage. Help would be greatly appreciated.

It's looking good man. Thanks for the insight. Do you think I would use the same amount of lights for one plant? and would "spring lights" be considered daylights?

Re: A question about CFL

Even for one plant, the more CFLs the better. I recommend using 4-6 per plant. The spring light is probably a "warm white" spectrum which is about 4100k. It will suffice for veg, but the closer you get to 6500k the better.

Re: A question about CFL

id probably use the same for one plant if not more but as for the other question i have never heard of a spring light but i would guess that its a 65k veg light to replicate the spring sun compared to switching to 27k red spectrum for flowering replicating the fall sun.

Re: A question about CFL

the more the merrier man. I am running 286 watts of CFL in an 18"x18" tent, one plant DWC. Temp is the factor, I am able to maintain mid 70s.

I think I am gonna go with the two 23w daylights(27k) and the 26w soft white(65k) for veg. And go with 4x 26w(27k) soft white and throw one of the daylights in there for flowering. If it feels dark I can throw some more soft whites on. Thanks for the great info guys, hopefully i'll have everything set soon and can start my first grow journal. Any good links to good fixtures or easy to move rigs for cfl's? Sorry for all the questions, but I wanna do this right

Re: A question about CFL

go for the 43 actual watts (usually 150w equivalent) CFL 6500k. For one plant go with 2 of them (3 optimal).

Good rigs are those desk lights that have springs in them to move up and down (only problem is most have a reflector). Or if you get those Y adapters that plug right into the wall then line your box with a vertical power bar and you can just move them up the power bar as she grows.

I'm assuming you're referring to vegging? The power bar idea sounds pretty good and convenient.

Re: A question about CFL

yes for vegging and for flowering you are going to want 4 2700k's.

Good thing about the power bar idea is the stick out horizontal (CFLs give the most light off the sides).

Awesome...thanks a lot man. Yeah I read that on a sticky about the light to be set sides facing the plant. Do you know anywhere to find the things I need to rig my lights? Online would be cool....but maybe home depot or lowes?
