Re: Is your grow Legal?

I don't get your "unqualifiable" statement.

As far as the taxing and regulating... Of course it is going to be taxed and regulated JUST LIKE ANY OTHER BUSINESS IN THE US. I read the article you linked but this guy doesn't seem to fully grasp how businesses operate. I really don't think anyone owning a dispensary cares if it is legal to grow at home. Very few people will grow their own. Do beer brewers give a shit about home brewing? No. Most people would rather go to the store and buy a case than wait a couple months for one in their basement. The same would be true for marijuana. I'm no expert on medical marijuana laws, but I thought you can grow your own in California with a prescription. Don't many of the dispensaries sell clones? The only example of restricting people to buying from dispensaries he noted was Arizona. It seems like something the supporters gave back to get something accomplished. That's just politics. What we need now is to take that foot in the door and keep pushing. Splintering over pipe dreams of a tax free unregulated marijuana trade is beyind ridiculous. That won't happen in my lifetime and likely many more after. I don't like taxes either, but you're not going to go from putting people in prison for it to unregulated and you're never going to get it tax free. Sorry to break the news to you.

hey the THCF.. I have dealt with those folks... and not really going to say anything bad about em.

but thier docs are imports BTW.. brought to the states to perscribe MMJ. ( least the one I had was.. seemed compitent though)

and here in Oregeon ( portland) the THCF offices host the NORML "learn to grow days" ( or whatever it is called) everyother week I belive.. and they give out clones..and such .. not really greed if you ask me.

on the other hand I do know some folks who work for RJ Reynolds ..and they are chomping at the bit for MMJ to get federalized.. so BEWARE.. or they will make cannabis addicitve..and prolly with "Mexi regs" as quality controll...

this is my biggest fear about legalization.. the tobbacco companies all have the connections ( political . and commercail) to bulldoze all these "oaksterdams" under..and set "packs" into convience stores.. hell the age restricted "laws & balances" are already inplace for it.

but hell if I am gonna pay 75 bucks for a pack of half ass joints ( pulled this sentence out of my ass.. for the record )

/ok have it back

I can't say anything bad about them either. The author of the article has obviously spent more time on the subject than most, and formed his thoughts accordingly.

-----

Apparently some folks are quite content to aid the gov in affecting control over yet another aspect of our "free" lives. Turning MMJ into a legal business model will only serve to place more and more control & resources into the hands of those who already have too much of both. Some astute individual mentioned RJ Reynolds. And they're not the only ones poised to profit.

Believe it or not, there are those with the foresight that are already laying the ground work for legal patents and other licensing credentials necessary to monopolize the market as soon as it's legitimized. --Search "David Watson", CEO of Hortapharm (only legal cultivator of cannabis in holland) and G W Pharmaceuticals (only legal cannabis research facility in UK).-- Both entities created with the sole purpose of cornering the market via intellectual property rights. Still sound fair?

How wonderfully fickle of our keepers. "We'll stop locking you folks up if you simply pay us enough". How...... civilized. Today you're a criminal, tomorrow a taxpayer. That IS an easy choice for someone living in fear.

I guess it's easy to view this issue through capitalist eyes when we've already been trained to pay for everything else necessary to live. But hey, what's one more tax 'eh? I'm sure that bottom percentile of the US can make it work somehow..... maybe skip the doctor this week, or this year.

Please forgive my fantasies of "freedom from oppression", but i thought that was kind of a core concept of the United States. My bad

Supernautical - So by your logic, if it won't happen in your lifetime, it's not worth fighting for? Way to honor our founding fathers

Some great notions (later turned mainstream principles) aren't realized for many generations, yet yours seem to have a shelf life equal to that of your own. Seems a bit shortsighted.

And that's the crux of my argument.
Some are willing to stand up for what's right, even if they never live to see the benefits (the word 'patriotic' comes to mind).

Others are content to sit politely and keep quiet as long as they get a 'slice of that pie'. "Let the future generations deal with the aftermath". 'Selfish' seems the appropriate word.

Please Super, don't be so afraid to step out of line, there's plenty of folks who won't judge you for it simple though we may be.

Re: Is your grow Legal?

I'm not really saying don't go for it. Just that taxes are here to stay. So is regulating mind altering substances. If you want to fight against taxes and regulation of substances that's fine, but it will only work against those advocating for legalization in a more pragmatic fashion. We're not going to magically convince people that not only shold marijuana be legaliaed, but also untaxed and unregulated. I'd like a blow job from January Jones too, but I understand that's pretty unrealistic.
You seem to be confusing issues. One is legalization, the other is your dislike of taxes and regulation. It's not helping to tie the two together for either cause.
I gather you fancy yourself some kind of rebel who's only in it for his ideals. That's cool, but no one in power will pay any attention to you because that's not how the game is played. Sorry to break the news to you.
