reply fast people: cloning problem

i just took 3 clones. i cut on 45 degree angles i took some soft wood #1 rooting powder and put it about an inch from the cut up to the bottoms of the first leaf set. i had them in warm water just after the cut and put em in soil thats been pre moistened in peat pots. i have them in a humidiation dome under a 400 watt MH light about 30 inches from the plants its very warm in the room and i dont have a sprayer but i managed to sprinkle water to make it humid in there. now heres my problem:

they are wilting very fast the soil isnt too moist or dry i did everything correct didnt i? they are wilting fast is just just normal somtimes? i just wanna know whats going on.

Did you make your 45 degree cuts under water? If you cut the stems in open air they can get an embolism(air bubble). Yank then, submerge them, and make another cut this time under water. Make a slight slit on the side of them about 1cm long, then lightly powder the stem, all that will be undersoil or whatever your medium is.

Wilting is normal at first to a degree. Just keep the joil very soaked and the leaves misted the best you can. All I do is take my cuts, make a 45 underwater along with a 1cm cut, pull them up, lightly dab some root hormone on them, and stick them in cups of soaked soil, mist them 5 or 6 times a day or as often as possible, no dome, and keep them near cool floro's. I have about 80% take.

You may be too close to your light, the heat might be drying them. The key is lots of water to promote root growth.

HIGH All, yes your light is drying them out...best place is out of your room into somewhere with less heat and light.

I had mine under full light but only fluorescent lighting so much less heat. Imperative you keep them humid, I covered my 16oz cloning cup/pots with sandwich baggies. Worked great kept them humid. As soon as I saw new leaf development I unbagged them and went 18/6 with the lighting. Had 100% success rate on my first attempt.

Check out my grow journal starting on the page linked below, some good pics of my clones getting droopy initially after cutting. Page 6 also shows them bagged/unbagged. Gluck mate, you can do it . .

my ballast is right next to them and there are 5 of them with a cup of water in the middle to help keep it humid so i dont have to check em as much.
the light is about 20 inches from the plants and they are in a dome that distorts and blurs the light they are still drooping and i have no floros. do they need direct light or just heat right now? what should i do with that i have to work with?

thats a lot of direct light for the clones. the aim here is to develop roots as fast as possible. i would move them further from the mH, its just too much light. you can root under the natural light of the room. once you notice new growth, then get them under the 400. the dome that you are using, do you see a build up of condensation? if no condensation, its humidity is too low. if your clones are in separte containers, like GG said, try using the bag method, within a week, you should be able to remove it allowing the clone to try to make it on its own without the extra help.
