Why the CFL Lowryder hate?

I am a low experience grower and CFLs and lowryders seem very attainable considering my living location as well as my finances.

Believe me if I had a place by myself I wouldnt think twice about HID and HPS but I live in close proximity to other people and am planning on growing for personal use for medicinal purposes, as current science can only offer me narcotic pain meds.

What can I expect from some lowryders as far as yield?

For those that disagree with lowryders:Would you suggest I simply start another seed and just veg for a short period.


For those that disagree with CFL: is there is such thing as a small HD/HPS ballast that can be hung in a small closet (sort of a complete system ie "plug and play") where should I start looking?

my friend bought 10 seeds of lowryder 2 from marijuanaseeds.nl

10 seeds all came up fine. Day 35 one showed as male and on day 42 the other 9 have not shown sex yet. All on Flouro in MG soil using FF nutes. Sometimes they get molasses and beneficial live organisms . 18/6 from seed, 5800k bulbs. They are all way taller than was expected. Shotty autoflower genes maybe? If they would just flower i would be happy. Next time i want to do lr2 i think i'll buy from somewhere else.

home depote carries hps 70 and 100 watt flood lights just plug and go
i'd go buy 150 watt compact ballast from the hydro store if i was you i seen em around 100 bucks or so thats not including the light bulb but you can get 150 watt bulbs at home depote for around 22 bucks

HTG supply has 150 watt HPS systems pretty cheap. Instead of lowriders I would recommend 12/12 from sprout on an indica heavy strain. You will achieve stronger yields and certainly higher quality. I have grown 20 lowriders in three grows and decided not to use autoflowers anymore. Autos are good if you want to have a few in your veg room but it doesnt sound like your situation will allow it. I have only used CFLs for veg cycle and it works well, just not quite as quick as halide.

Looks like it would be good for veg but not flowering.

sounds like he got some of the ones that didnt carry the autoflower trait properly
both my lowryders i got goin now showed female in half that time
