I am so sorry...heh. Point me in the right direction?

Okay, so, I've spent a bunch of time looking through grow threads and sofourth, as well as reading the Vocabulary sticky. I have just tonight learned that people have used micro grows (i.e. in PC boxes and small refridgerators) to yeild .5 - 1lb per plant.

Prices here are crazy. I don't want to deal, and don't really want to grow only because I couldn't deal with the large footprint in my apartment, BUT, if all it will take is a computer case, or a mini fridge, or even a filing cabinet, I'd be down to try it. Especailly since even if my plant yeilds a QP, it will be more than enough to last me a while as I am not a heavy user.

Now, is there a thread with something detailed on exactly what I would need and how to set it all up?

The most detailed thread was a PC box using LEDs, but I would rather just outfit a box to fit 4 lightbulbs (CFL, i believe, right?) of whatever wattage is necessary, and using fans and activated carbon filters(?) to kill the smell (do these work perfectly or would I need something like an air purifier to totally rid the smell?) It needs to be totally smell-free, if I can manage it.

Also, it looks like I will want to get feminized seeds, but read bits about 'dwarf plants' and 'autoflowering seeds'? uhh...what?

Thanks so much. Feel free to hate on the n00b, I fully expect it.

Impossible! A pc case could fit two little plants that might yield between .5 -1 oz per plant if you're damn good. I yield about 30 oz every 8 weeks, but i'm using a 5x6x8 space for flowering plus a veg room. I flower 10 plants that average about 3 oz each, these are big plants, nothing you'll fit in a pc case. If you want a qp from a plant you have to give your plants lots more space, and better light than cfl's.

It is quite possible that I am thinking of a different post, or that they had wrong info.

Honestly though, I'm cool with yielding an ounce in a PC case, because that would last me a while still.

Do you think a mini-fridge would increase that yield anything significantly?

Also, I forgot to mention, I will be buying the box, so am open to any suggestions. I would rather just use a big PC case though as it would be the least conspicuous.

Also, I found a feminized auto-flowering dwarf on one of the seedbanks listed here. What would the pros and cons be of using that vs a normal feminized seed? I kind of dig the idea of working with the plant as much as possible, but for my first grow I'm looking to harvest as soon as I can.

You probably meant .5-1 oz per plant. If you truly meant .5-1 lb per plant in a microbox, somebody was bullshitting you to the extreme. You won't be yielding a QP per plant in a miniature grow space either.

The pros for using auto-flowering strains are extremely limited. You'll get a slightly faster start to harvest time at the expense of a significantly less yield. Height is obviously an issue for your grow, and auto-flowering strains will, by their very nature, be shorter. But height is a variable that can be easily controlled with a little research and work.

Doesn't sound worth it, as I am not 100% sure I will just keep a grow going all the time, so I'd like to yield as much as possible. So, LST on a normal fem'ed seed would be my best bet.

Thats right. It would help if you had some more space.
