I'm a noob help! pH Water!!

I'm planting my seed directly in FoxFarm Light Warrior soil in those red cup, than transfering to a 2 gallon container with FoxFarm Ocean Forest. Since my seeds are germinating I'm going to presoak my soil so once I see their tap root I will transplant it. Now I have my soil in my in my cups and I'm ready to presoak. What ph should I use? The plant I'm growing is Fucking Incredible from VISC. They say she likes a pH of 6.6 - 6.8, but I'm guessing thats later when she gets a couple weeks under her belt. So can I use 6.0 so I can get my roots to grow first cause a pH 6.0 is for making your roots grow faster. What do you guys recommend?

Why would you presoak the soil? FF says the soil is balanced at 6.3-6.8, I don't think you should have to do anything but water it with pH'd water.

A higher/lower pH doesn't necessarily mean it will make the roots grow any differently. The medium/water needs to be in that pH range because its in that range that the plant can best absorb nutrients. Were I not on my phone now id link a graph that shows the different nutrient uptake rates for the range of pH, but I'm sure a quick search will find it.

Because I have to water the soil so it can be moist b4 I put my seed in it... And what do you mean by just watering it with pH'd water? Like should I get water do the testing and put it at like 6.0?

Add perlite (light warrior might actually work well as an amendment for aeration, I haven't tried it) and dolomite lime to the ocean forest to help control the pH, mine was way too acidic at first. I keep my pH at about 6.5 when I water without nutes.

I'm confused do I need to set myself up for nutes? cause I dont get it why you would say that you kept your pH at 6.5 without nutes.

ok so let me get this straight i have a hanna pH digital water meter, so lets say I dip it in the water and it reads 6.0 and I went and water my soil. Will it be 6.0? just cause FoxFarm ballanced their soil? and if so is that bad for the first couple of days after germinating my seeds? Like i just want to know what I should keep my water at so I can make my soil moist for tomorow. Cause I'm putting my seeds in the soil tomorow.

Re: I'm a noob help! pH Water!!

Dunno why you keep wanting it to be 6.0, that's too low for a soil grow. It won't help your seedlings to have the pH so low. When I say water with pH'd water, that means balance the pH of the water you use to moisten the soil to 6.3-6.8. Keep it in this range and don't worry so much about it. Once you start using nutes, they will lower the pH of the water, so add the nutes first and pH the water last. Just water from now on with pH 6.3-6.8 and you'll be fine.

Re: I'm a noob help! pH Water!!

Thank you that was a beautiful answer for a newbie. It was just confusing for a bit.

I'm assuming that later in the stage I am going to change my pH water level to what VISC said, she likes a higher ph (6.6 - 6.8) so when I go from 6.3 to 6.7 can I do this right away? or should I go 6.3, 6.4. 6.5, 6.6,6.7? Just wondering if this even matters... Also when am I suppose to change my pH to the recommended level?
