Re: Can I use lemon extract to add flavor to the buds?

Finally... This is something I can build upon. Just a no is not sattisfiing. Thank a lot for putting some time in it for me! To bad you just copied and pasted what vitamin said... If everybody does that, there will be no more learning and we will make the same mistakes over and over again.
I am here to learn more, that is why I gave you the link. I have nothing to hide... Do not be offended by my constatations after your first reply, if I would not have done it you would not have given me a decently funded answer. If you say no (ar yes) I need to know why cause louds of people (chatters, bloggers, producers, ...) say/copy louds of things on the web... Don't just declare things out of the blue. If you make a statement, you should be able to indicate at least why. What I did was asking a question. If I had the answer, I would not have to ask it...
I can't find scientific sources for my suggestion in Dutch litterature, that is why I fired the question away on the nutrients for our plants topic. I never said it was based on any kind of proove, i even pointed out it was a text by the producer... Finding proove is the reason for firing the question, on another thread. Highlife is a highly respected magazine and I found the article there, the only one of it's kind... So investigation is needed. Commercial growers here in the netherlands use it... But are reluctant to give information because they protect their own business...
CO2 is a nutrient, is it not? So I guess I chose the wright topic. This topic was about adding stuff to your water. I replied and warned, that's all. I asked you to answer on this matter on the other thread. How come you answer here? Got nothing sensible to add to what vitamin said?
I am well aware that mayb I can be wrong, are you prepared for that? I am not afraid of putting my thoughts on a certain subject on a forum and get a discussion that leads somewhere, how otherwise will I learn?
I also said myself that this could be an advertisement, I don't need you to repeat that... I am not a fool... Seem like you read but don't remember. Wikipedia is far from scientific, but at least more than what the other guy said in the text you copied. Don't ever forget that!!!
To give you a hint, these are examples of the texts that i am looking for: Focus Issue on the Biology of Transpiration: Nighttime Stomatal Conductance and Transpiration in C3 and C4 Plants (Also, books written 1980 or something like that are extremely outdated.)
all the rest is just speculation... And I want to find the golden egg. Got something to add?

Grtz $lick

Re: Can I use lemon extract to add flavor to the buds?

I understand that you want the "golden egg," but carrying out discussion with a total disregard to the basic biology of the plant is simply asinine. Its obvious you've never taken a biology or botany class. You might want to try one of those before trying to understand how a (non-aquatic) plant uses CO2. I'm not going to sit here and explain carbon fixation, the Calvin cycle, or RuBisCO to you, just know that those terms are something you should be familiar with if you're investigating this topic. The bottom line is that our plants do not absorb enough CO2 through the roots (if at all) to make a damn bit of difference. CO2 supplementation is meant for the leaves, because leaves, not roots, use the CO2 during photosynthesis. Roots don't photosynthesize, so what use would CO2 be to them?

If you want to daydream about the holy grail of growing being something as simple as CO2 to the roots, that's fine. But don't for a second confuse that with real life, where things like CO2 uptake are governed by the fundamental biology of the plant. No matter how much you talk about it, you're not going to magically make roots participate in carbon fixation.

Finally, you keep pissing and moaning about copying and pasting. Sorry dude, I like to back up my statements with facts and evidence. As you said yourself, your posts are pure speculation. Not only that, it leads impressionable noobs down the path of magic elixirs and tablets and pills that are largely a waste of time.

Bottom line, until you do a case study where all other variables are controlled, and you only added CO2 to certain plants (and not via a tablet that contains things other than CO2) and see a significant increase in growth, it will remain that roots don't greatly benefit from CO2 supplementation. Sorry to burst your bubble.

Oh, and I'm very capable of being proven wrong. By all means, feel free to do so. But not with speculation, that's just a waste of time.

Cool Re: Can I use lemon extract to add flavor to the buds?

Well...now that you mention it...I was wondering, what is that kinda dirty-looking stuff just under the grass I had to cut out when building my el cheapo greenhouse, and if I put a half a cup of chopped strawberries, 2 nightcrawlers and a photo of some naked ladies covered in rhubarb stalks (the leaves are highly poisonous) in the drop box at our local library, will that make my neighbors dog chase deer on the other side of the highway?

Ah...well. Probably not, so I guess I will just have to go back to the labor intensive method of growing them as best I can, curing them the best I can, and then using them for all the reasons God made them in the first place.

Oh. And the first paragraph was just something silly and off topic...rhetorical if you will, because I have worked way too hard today and I'm so fatigued now I'm simply feeling silly. Waitaminnit!! I hear my bong calling me.

Laters!

Re: Can I use lemon extract to add flavor to the buds?

Since anything you put in your plants water will affect the taste, esp if you do it right before harvest, I would say yes, but weed already has a complicated taste so adding lemon to it will make it taste diff but not always like lemon.

also the sugar from lemon will do something as well but depeneds on many variables I can not preidict.

Kind of what I think when people ask about flavoring the bud. I LIKE the flavor of good, unaltered bud. But that's just me.

Indeed. Its all opinion, and being condescending to those who want to try different flavors of bud is just snobby.

Perhaps "mpdegn" is nothing more than a Troll. Let's treat him as such.

Cool Re: Can I use lemon extract to add flavor to the buds?

The answer is both yes and no...THAT should clear it up. LOL. If you can ignore all the rhetoric and insults, the question has been answered, and quite well, by some very knowledgeable people.

You CAN artificially alter the flavor of the buds, but you MAY not necessarily actually end up with "lemon flavor," and the alcohol in an extract along with the sugars present can do some very weird stuff. I have a friend who uses lemon, orange, lime etc but he simply peels whatever citrus he wants to add for flavor, and squeezes the peel to release the essential oils in the peel. You know, like when we were kids and somebody would squeeze a lemon peel into somebody's eyeballs as a practical joke? That will work with ANY citrus fruit.

I've smoked some he has done this with and it does have a fruity taste from whatever flavor he was going for, but I personally like the taste of "natural" bud m,'self. Hope this answers the question.
