Attention New or Limited Growers - Good Bye Miralce Gro Organic

Well Now us growers that have limited access to quality soils, have another choise over Miralce Gro Organic (not OMRI certified). heres how this came about, my in-laws are in this 100% organic gardening club, so they can learn & start selling their crops, well at one of their meetings (my mom in-law knows i use FFOF (also not OMRI certified) w/ great results), they where talking about soils. well they recomended "Garden Safe All Purpose Potting Mix Natural Organic" made by Shultz (OMRI certified too) over FFOF which they also carried in the store.
Heres the specs on the Garden Safe Soil:
"GARDEN SAFE" ALL PURPOSE POTTING MIX Formulated with organic professional grade fertilizer (aerobically composted turkey litter) provides slow release fertilization without potential for burning. For indoor/outdoor plants, flowers, tropical, herbs, vegetables and seedlings, containers, and hanging baskets Great for the organic grower OMRI certified (Organic Materials Review Institute)

Ingredients:

This potting soil is formulated regionally from Canadian sphagnum peat moss, organic materials (reed-sedge peat or composted forest products), horticultural perlite, an organic wetting agent and lime for proper pH balance.

Description:

OMRI Listed: Garden Safe All Purpose Potting Mix is listed by the Organic Materials Reveiw Institute for use and production of organic food and fiber.

Premium-Blend Potting Mix: Canadian sphagnum peat moss, composted organic matter, plus perlite, for excellent drainage, aeration, water and nutrient retention. Contains no yard waste or commodity fillers.

Garden Safe Natural organic Plant Food: Enriched with organic plant food that provides both quick and slow release feeding for up to nine months. Contains primary nutrients essential for flowering, plant growth and vegetable yeild-naturally.

Organic Wetting Agent: Yucca plants have evolved to thrive even in the harshest desert conditions. Our organic wetting agent is a natural extract of yucca that helps to evenly distribute water throughout the mix and to the roots of the plant.

Analysis:

Total Nitrogen (N)..................................0.06%
Avail. Phosphate (P2O5).........................0.09%
Soluble Potash(K2O)..............................0.06%

Application Recommendations:

Repotting: Choose a pot slightly larger than the original and fill with several inches of Garden Safe All Purpose Potting Mix. Gently pat down soil. Center rootball, fill pot with soil leaving about 3/4 inch between top of soil and rim. Pat down gently but firmly. Water plant slowly to allow absorbtion.

Seeds: Plant according to directions on seed packet. Cover seeds lightly with soil. Mist daily but do not drench.

Cuttings: Forn holes in mix with a clean pencil and place stem in hole. Cover stem lightly with mix and pat down gently. Moisten soil and cover pot with clear plastic to keep cuttings hydrated until roots develop.

& guess what, you can buy this soil @ Lowes, so good bye Miralce Gro Organic, & hello Garden Safe Organic for those who dont have access to the premium soils like FFOF, even though its not OMRI certified, & those who use FFOF, should give "Black Gold - Natural Organic" a try, very high quality soil, OMRI listed, & half the price of FFOF, www.blackgold.bz.

Garden Safe Natural Organic = about 9$ for 1 Cu Ft.
Fox Farm Ocean Forest = about 20$ for 1.5 Cu Ft.
Miralce Gro Organic = about 10$ for 1.5 Cu Ft.
Black Gold Natural & Organic = about 11$ for 1.5 Cu Ft

Thanx Bro

I've been using the search feature looking for any alternative to FFOF. I WILL NOT pay more for shipping than the damn bag costs. I understand its heavy and closest hydro store according to fox farm distributors list is over 90 miles away. I have a lowes 5 min from my house only thing in the boondocks. Anyways Ill be calling them and asking thank you for the info. Guess for the cheap price i can add my own worm castings. I follow the vermicomposting sticky in organics section. Thank you for this information. Just wanna let you know dont believe everything some institute Or Gov't agency tells you. They can label things organic that are 80% genetically modified and FDA Now says Melamine is awesome and U should have more. Great info jus saying agencies dont have your best interests in mind. MORE FUNDING is their goal ALWAYS.

I said screw it and drove an hour and a half each way to get my FFOF and while I was there I picked up a bunch of other stuff I would have had to pay shipping on. I have seen the results using Fox Farm and so I bit the bullet and drove there. There was just no way I was paying double for the bag either. Besides put on some good tunes and you are there in no time flat.

If Garden Safe is $9/ft^3...then it's actually more expensive than the miracle grow at $10/1.5ft^3 and $11/1.5ft^3... A better comparison would be Garden Safe at $13.5/1.5ft^3.
