Distilled-ish water idea? Would this work?

I have a dehumidifier. If I were to collect the water it's taken from the air, boil it to get rid of any bacteria, would this be similar to distilled water? I'd go run and try it now but I sadly don't have a pH tester to see how accurate it would be. Would anyone want to try this and see if it's an easy way to get distilled-ish water?

Yep....buy it for 70 cents a gallong at walmart.

I have a dehumidifier. There's no way I would ever try to use the water it collects to water my plants. Even after boiling it.

Plus, that seems like a lot of work. Wouldn't tap water left out for a day or so be better than that work?

Right, but plenty of people in here use it on their plants. While I don't and I recommend something better, I think it's a better course of action then what he is suggesting.

I'm using a mr clean auto-dry sprayer, it reduces the ppm a lot. But depending on the hardness you have to replace the filter after 20 gallons or so. I don't have a tds meter but someone who has tested it with one said it brought it down from 250 ppm to 20 ppm.But it's only like 10 bucks. And i assume buying a new filter is cheaper.
