Cutting Tops for Clones???

I want to know if this is a "BAD" Idea......

I obtained Feminized Seeds of Blue Hash...NL...Train Wreck.....BUBBLEGUM...Mango...Cheese..etc....
Most of these feminized seeds are growing outdoors....

I am about to TOP the plants...Is the Top of the Plant a good place to take a Clone?

I hesitate due to taking off too much Top and thickness of the Top stem to root easily....

Seems like a No Brainer meaning "YES"...Any experience in Cloning the Tops of Plants as opposed to Bottom Shoots only???

-D

unless you're wanting to keep them low profile, don't top them. go down towards the bottom of the plant and use those growth tips for clones. the tops aren't all that great for clones anyway. the tops are thicker and can be woody. the smaller, side growth tips, root more quickly than tops.

If you are topping or fimming a plant and doing it the right way you are not taking enough material off the plant to clone from that site. Clones are best taken from an axial branch and cutting below the top two or three segments, any less and you run the risk of air embolism and killing your clones. You can do a search or look in the absolute beginners section on how to's.

Thanks Guys.....That answered my Questions EXACTLY.....I am planning on keeping the plants a little bushier and low pro...YET...I suspected that using those clipped tops gains me nothing compared to lower shoots and risks headaches with the Plants (and success for the Clones)

PEACE
