Flushing every week with 5.5 PH?

I watched some videos on http://www.greenhouseseeds.nl/shop/i...e_id=ghgrowdvd
They said that they flush every week?? with a PH of 5.5??
I thought that the optimum PH is 6.5-6.8. And how much is EC 1.5 anyway? Is that like half the strength? Does this flushing go on even when the plants are very small? And do they water and feed the plant between every weeks flush or do they just flush? How much water should be used when flushing a 13 gallon bucket? And if I lower the PH to 5.5 on my current grow will my plants die having in mind that they have lived in 6.5 all their life?

Ph 5.5 is for Hydro setups, Ph 6.5 is for Soil.

When I flush my soil grows, I tend to use 2-3 times the volume of the pot so a 10gallon pot would be flushed with 20-30gallons of water. Different people flush with different amounts I'm sure, I just like to make sure I have no taste of Fertliser when I harvest.

The whole point of flushing is to eliminate any chemicals that are laying in the medium (Wether Hydro or Soil). It's usually done a couple of weeks before harvest.

They might be refering to the flushing just before harvest.

I'm assuming you're growing in soil.
I'm not a big soil fan as I prefer hydro, in which case a weekly flush is not needed.

I also dont think I've seen too many growers actually flush their soil weekly... hell, in most cases (especially with a 13 gallon bucket) your plant probably wont need to be watered bu once every 10-14 days at the most... so flushing every 7 days would just drown the thing.

Dont trust everything you see...

Not completely true, as long as the soil has good drainage and is airy then the water will drain out and have a lot of run off. This flush brings all the nutrients away from the roots and only leaving the soil fresh and mostly free of chemicals. Helps the taste of the buds, and I've been doing this exact thing for the last couple of years and I do it 4 and 2 weeks before harvest is due, but yes too much flushing will drown your plant.

I concur, that during the final phase of flowering a flush is required to rid the medium of excess salt buildup and nutrients and help provide a better cure.

However, based on what was posted he was asking if a weekly flush was needed - not mentioning flowering, just a weekly flush throughout the life of the plant.

Based on the above I believe my answer was right on - can you imagine dumping 2-3 gallons of water on your ladies every 7 days throughout their life? You'd kill em unless you were growing in Dixie cups with perlite/vermiculite.

You have a good point haha.

Dr3adLoX: Don't do it all through it's life. Flush for harvest.

Just flush before harvest. I usually start flush when i think there is about 2 weeks left of flowering. just keeping watering like normal but with no nutes I dont think the amount of water matters to much as long as you start flushin early enough

I know about the flushing before harvest but when I watched those movies on the site I think they meant that they flush during the life of the plant to clear the soil from salts. But they dont say when they start doing that. And they grow with soil on 5.5 PH or 5.7 if indica. Just watch the videos.

Based on the info you just provided, I need not waste my time on this 'video'.... they are bluntly WRONG. pH is wrong, flush throughout the life of the plant is wrong... in other words, ignore the damn video.
