Thumbs up Dirt Cubes vs. Rockwhool

Setup:

Strain: Big Bud
Light: 4'x2 Florescent
Area: Cupboard

Im using two General Hydroponic's Waterfarms for 4 clones with the light 6" above the plants.

I took the cuttings off of other plants that were two weeks into flowering.

2 clones into rockwhool, and 2 clones into dirt cubes. The pH is right about 6.0.

After 14 days, the clones in the dirt cubes are already showing signs of new veg growth, and about 4 main roots are shooting through the dirt.

The rockwhool clones arent showing any roots yet, but they still look great!

Ive tried taking clones and putting a dome over them but that didnt seem to work nearly as good as this! I think all of the water splashing everywhere from the ring helps keep the humidity way up. I should also note the cupboard wasnt completely closed because of the cord for the light. I know some people say not to use any dirt when working with hydroponics, but I havnt had an issue, and this is how I will clone from now on!

Ps. I know many of you can get a crap ton of roots after 7 or 8 days, but I havnt been so skillful yet. Having as many roots and new Veg growth after 14 days in this setup has been the best for me so far! Plus, its not too expensive for the light...

I had issues doing rockwool in the hydrofarm as well when I tried it a few years back. I failed at it so bad I went back to soil. Since then I've done a bit of research and it seems like a good number of experienced growers let their rockwool soak overnight in an lowered pH solution and they seem to report better success rates than I saw without doing this. Search around and you may find more info.

My current planned grow is going to be soil based because after building the cab to my specs I can afford to build out a hydro setup and get the high quality pH and TDS meters I would like to have....how far away is Christmas?

I have heard the above too, in addition to letting them cubes soak in a tiny drop of superthrive to get things going.

I dont do cloning much myself, but generally when i've handled clones rockwool works great. I'd go for it over something else

Found a cloning vid on YouTube that also mentions the soak of your rockwool prior to putting plants in them. I never knew about this back in the day so that may explain why my first attempt at hydro failed awhile back.
