Does anyone know any reputable companies that offer a ph/ppm meter at a reasonable price? This is pretty much everything I need to monitor for optimal growth I believe. I don't think an EC (electrical connectivity) meter is a must have, am I right?

If I'm growing in soil, is it really that important to test TDS? To do so, I'd imagine I would have to get run off water from the soil right? Heres a cheap HANNA TDS meter I found.

I think I'm better off buying my meters separately.. and thats only if I even need a TDS meter.

. Wouldn't want my pH getting out of hand or anything lol.

Still looking for some guidance before I go ahead and place an order. I think ill get this one, has anyone tried it or can confirm that it does in fact work in soil? I know it says so in the item description but I want to be certain.

I've used that type of Hanna meter in my college Organic Chem lab classes. They work well in fluids we used them with, not sure about soil though. Make sure to get the calibration solutions with these though.

Hmm.. do you know of any other pH meters that work well for a fact in soil? I can't seem to find one anywhere. I'm guessing the calibration solution is sold separately as I doesn't say its included. How does the solution work anyhow?

I bought a Hanna digital tester that gives your pH to the hundredth on ebay for about $22 after shipping. You have to calibrate it your self but it is very quick and easy. I strongly recommend it for any growing experiencing pH difficulties. It is a very valuable tool.

BTW, you dont stick the tester in the soil! You test the run-off and anybody growing in soil better have run-off

And I think you'd more wanna use a TDS in soil for checking your nutrient rez before you watered. But I guess I've just never checked the TDS of my runoff.

Wouldn't it include the soil particles too and therefor mess up your numbers?
