Im not sure how close you can grow them together, but ive heard they can start fighting for nutrients and choke each other out. I didnt think the second plant would make it at the time so i left it. What can i expect to happen? Would trimming the plant on the right do any good?

If you are looking for advice, I would re-pot them into separate containers, dig them both out, put one in the middle of the pot you are using, find another pot and put the other in another pot. They will look and do fine for now, the problems will come later if you leave it like that, so you should re-pot now. You shouldn't put 2 plants in such a small container, that container might be tall I dont know, but I can tell you now its not wide enough to hold 2 plants for the enitre life of them plants.

Just my 2 cents and I suspect if anyone else responds you will get the same 2 cents from them.
