Some Help with Cloning

Ok i've done my research and read many threads on GrassCity but still have some questions, I am an experienced gardener but not with growing bud.

I went out and bought Schultz TakeRoot Rooting Hormone powder

1. once i clip and dip into the powder should i put it right in soil?

2. or should I put in a cup of water for a few days untill roots show then use the powder then soil?

3. Any special mix of the perlite/soil or just the normal amount?

4. Which color cfl's should i put them under after?

ANY help would be much appreciated as always ! Thank you everyone!

I wanted to give u guys some advice. Just my two cents but here goes...

The shultz powder from walmart did not work for me. I cut alot of clones and tried alot of soil combos and all of them grew mold before they grew roots. And after four weeks I was very frustrated. Some fellow GC members advised me to use grow plugs and try some gel and thats what I did. I found some Botanicare Rapid root plugs and DutchMaster Gel from my local hydro shop and finally... ROOTS!! BLOODY ROOTS!

I also put my clones in darkness right after for 36 hours. This shuts down photosynthesis and transpiration and allows the plant to concentrate on roots. When I bring them to the light I mist them once a day and let the cover off them for about five minutes. I had mega roots in 8 days on all the clones I took(20)!!
There are alot of ways to clone and you need to find a way that works for you and stick to it. I am sure you will have lots of moldy errors like I did but that is the fun of the whole thing! Read all the posts on GC about cloning and make it work for you! WORD!

I have used the shultz powder with no problems. I have had more problems with rootech gel ( 3 jars all from the same store). Use straight perlite, dip them into water, then the powder, then into rinsed perlite. I say rinsed as perlite is dusty,and you want to remove the dust.. Make sure you are rinsing with ph adjusted water.. Stick them in an old cooler with the lid removed. Mist them til the chamber is humid and cover with clear plastic window covering. Mist them twice a day for 3 days and let them breathe each time. Mist once per day after that. You should have roots coming out by the end of two weeks. Don't overmist them or they will rot. Make sure the perlite stays moist, not saturated. A 2 foot flouro works great for light, they don't need much til they root.

just a little reminder guys;

when you take your cutting do not dip your cutting into the rooting gel or powder as you will block the hole which will suffocate the clone, put powder or gel on a plate & drag it through leaving the base of the cutting still open so it can uptake its feed
