what kind of lights are you using? i would start LST now, and continue to veg them to get them to fill out more, then consider flowering, that way you get more that just a few buds and lots of stem. you can make them veg again just by changing the light back to either 24/0 or 18/6.

They were outside, in sunlight. Now they are in a grow box in my home. I don't see where you picked up the thought that they are still outside? |

We ask about the stretch because it's a symptom of insufficient light. We see people on here growing with incandescent and halogen bulbs, which don't work for growing MJ, but give a plant some stretchy growth and let them believe they have a plant worth smoking. If this was your case, we would need to start with that. If not, we can move forward. I'm guessing you aren't using a light, but the sun from your window? That can be fine, just ensure a)you get the most, best light (at least 6 hours of direct light/day) and b) they are not visible from the outside.
I would tack on more growth and thicken the stem up before putting them into flowering. A fan blowing enuff air to keep the plant moving a bit will do wonders towards fattening your stem up. To get some real growth, get a 42 watt daylight or cool white CFL and place the plant under it 24/7 (except when you want to supplement with natural light). That being said, we can help you only if you let us. We need to know details if you want to get more out of our experience. No one is here to just blatantly criticize learners. It is when learners get defensive and tell us they already know what they don't that we start to unleash... E4A2S |

I would LST your plants and veg for longer. What lighting do you have for your indoor plants? Sorry if you've already mentioned this and I've missed it. You need to get the lighting right or the best nutes in the world won't help at all. Good Luck man

This was an outside grow in the woods, 35 plants. (which is why the plants were stretched in the first place, they were growing off of the sun) I have brought 4 of them into my house to a grow box The dimensions are 5 x 4. I am using a 250 watt hps light. Lights on for 20 hours a day. I have two fans to cool down my plants. They just started low stress training too. BUT this is not my question. My question is why do I need nutes? Will my plant die without them, or do they just speed up the growing process? |

Now that we know you have what sounds like a plausible setup, I can say that if you've had none up to now, it's a good time to start. Did you keep them in the soil they were planted in, or did you transplant into commercial soil? Do you have any products in mind or are you looking for suggestions? If you are, then go organic with as little as molasses, worm castings and guano.
