Make them flower sooner? I don't understand the question I think. You can veg for as little as 1 week and switch the lights to 12/12. also if running 12/12 less like 9/15 they will mature faster but your not going to get the same stash as 12/12 lighting.

I thought that the auto flowering strain, they would start to flower when they are ready.

I'm actually doing an auto flowering strain right now, I think they automatically start flowering when ready (usually at 3 weeks). It's optimal (or so I've read) to keep them on a 18/6 schedule

Do you keep them on 18/6 thru the entire grow cycle? I think i remeber reading somewhere, that they never need a 12/12 cycle.
