I plan to start off with only a few plants, but eventually want to harvest 2.5 - 3 lbs of HIGH quality every 3-4 months. I don't want to skimp on the setup. To achieve my desired yields, I assume I'll be needing 35 plants (35 x 1.25 = 43.75/16 = 2.7 lbs)
I have a few questions. Are my expectations of getting between 2.5 to 3 lbs off of 35 plants reasonable? For optimum results (large yields, high THC level, quick harvests etc) for 30-35 plants in a 5x6 area what should my LIGHT SETUP be (i.e. 400/600/1000 WATTAGE vs # of MH to HPS to standard tube lights) ? Are ozone generators effective? Are universal MH/HPS lights just as good as getting one of each? After purchasing seeds from Dr Chronic or Gypsy, how many quality plants can I expect per 10 seeds? Is the following AeroFlo2 36 Site Hydroponic system a good buy at $550 and will it work for 35 plants yielding an avg of 1.25 per? http://cgi.ebay.com/AeroFlo2-36-SITE...QQcmdZViewItem Thanks in advance to anyone who can answer all or any of the questions I have! |

yes very reasonable if i worked that out proper your expecting 1.25 ounce per plant am i right??? If so i get that from fluro grow get way more from sodium if grown right and your not scrimping as you say on your setup you could achieve easily 10 plus ounce per plant it can be done

Well first off, if this is your first time growing(assuming) im not sure aeroponics will be a walk in the park. With that aeroflo system you will probably have a bunch of small plants, where as if you got say a bubble bucket system, you could have 15 or less big plants, if you used around 1600 watts which would be good for that size of space you could yield around your desired yield amount. Wouldnt recommend an ozone generator as they can sometimes damage leaves. MH is good for veg HPs for flower, so its your call there. As for the 10 seeds germinating it all depends on the seed bank company and how well you are at germinating seeds.

Getting the yield you want is just a matter of figuring out how to do a successful grow, then scaling that up. You're gonna know a lot more about this after you've done your first grow with just a few plants.
I might plan for a little more space than 5 X 6. I don't know about ozone generators. Getting universal MH/HPS lights is probably less expensive than buying one of each. You can expect about 5 quality (that means female) plants from every pack of 10 seeds, though individual results will vary. If you want to get pounds of MJ from growing three dozen plants at a time, you will need to learn to clone your females. It's not what I would buy, but maybe it would work great for you! |

Thanks for all the input, I definitely need to rethink my approach.
After doing a little more research I'm thinking it might be better to get a clone and use a 12-24 pot Ebb & Gro system or something similar. I have a 4x8 space ready to be closed off, which I guess could be expanded to maybe 5x8, do you guys think this would be enough space for 20-24 med-large plants using the Ebb & Gro pot system? I was thinking of getting one 600W MH and 2-4 flourescents for vegging and one 1000W HPS for flowering (which I could use along with the 600W MH) for a total of 1600W HPS/MH for flowering 20-24 plants in a 4x8 space. You think this would most likely be the right amount of light to achieve my desired yields? Last edited by TheBillCollecto : 05-05-2008 at 07:06 AM. |
