Where do you look for trichs?

When judging the maturity of a crop, where on the plant do you sample for trich color? I would also like to know how you go about it... I found it difficult to get a good image with a handheld 30x microscope straight from the plant. Do you cut a leaf tip and examine on a table? And once again, from where?

What you do is take a leaf cutting from the B's themselves (as these seem to have a higher concentration of trichs although you can do fan leaves located on the upper part of the P) put it on a white piece of paper on the table (cutting no bigger than my fingernail) and used the $10.00, 100x microscope from radio shack with a built in light to take a look.

Okay... where on the bud, tho. Wouldn't the upper be less ripened than the lower? Do you need to take multiple samples to be thorough?

yes, id take one from the top, and one from the bottom to be more accurate.
