Question about generating seeds

Hi,

This is my first post on GC. I've been lurking around for a few months and joined today.

I've been through two grows in the last couple of years, real small. I've learned alot especially reading up here.

I am looking to start with 10 seeds like the last two times. Last time I ended up with six healthy plants, ended up with three girls and three boys. I removed the males and finished.

This time I was wondering if I could generate some seeds as well. I fully understand why you remove males but it just seems to me that it would be great if I ended up with some seeds, say 20-30.

My idea is that if I end up with three males and three females or something similar I'll remove the males, keeping one far from the females. Could I get a bit of pollen and put it on the lower buds of one of the females? Or would pollen spread like crazy? I thought I could use a small hobby brush to put pollen on lower buds. Will this work?

I know there are some issues with genetics (ie recessive traits etc) but I'm starting with good seeds and would expect to end up with decent seeds.

If anyone has any thoughts on this or experience in this area I would appreciate you sharing that with me.

You can keep 1 male in a separate room and take the pollen sacks and keep them in a ziploc bag, when you are ready to cross them, just put the bud you want with seeds in the bag and shake it around a little bit, this should keep the pollen contained in that area and should not affect the other plants...

not a problem, we are all here to help and be helped..
Just be careful, pollen gets on everything and stays around for years, so you want to keep that male the least amount of time possible..
I kept a male for 2 weeks more than I should have, this was about 6 months ago and in a separate room, and I am still dealing with seed issues...

Edit: I hope I can get a GReen Crack clone from a friend and cross it with Arjan's Haze #2 !!!! When I do that I"ll document my experience and the whole CS process.

u have/had the right idea to start off with... i use a film container (to store the male pods) and a small paint brush to "spot" pollinate lower little nugs..

oh and when i notice they're male i move them outside- then in a couple weeks they're ready to harvest. (@ signs of first pods splitting)
