Can MH be run on HPS ballast?

Can anyone help. I'm currently using a 250w HPS son t plus lamp. I've come across a MH lamp by Powerplant who say they're lamps are designed to run on the same ballast. See the link below

Will I be able to use the 250w MH bulb with my ballast. Does it make a difference HPS or MH as long as the wattage is the same?

Any help would be most appreciated as i'm currently in veg with a HPS and would prefer to use MH now and put the HPS back in for flower.

Unless you have a dual ballast, ballasts are designed to only fire either HPS or MH bulbs. You also should remember that a 400w ballast can only fire a 400w bulb, don't try to swap out different wattages. There are also "conversion" MH bulbs that can run on HPS ballasts. What kind of ballast do you have? How many watts is it designed to fire? Either way I would probably use the right bulb for your ballast.

i have a 250w hps powerplant..i dont fink u can swap to MH unless it says its a duel ballast....anyways i have used 250w hps since seed and its all working fine for me..if u continue using hps just have it 3 ft from the top of soil and its works good 18/6 for veg

They make conversion MH lamps that will run in a HPS ballast and vice versa.
