Many people do this. I can't say that it's necessary, as I've not experienced any visable stress from changing light cycles, but if something makes a grower feel better about/more connected with his/her plants, it's probably a good thing.

^Very well put.
15 minutes a day is what I prefer. I try to mimic nature as close as possible.

I don't think the extra 24 days it'll take you to get to 12/12 will make much of a difference in resin or bud production. If switching the photoperiod stressed out mj plants so much you would have heard about it by now and everybody would gradually reduce the photoperiod. Just flip the photoperiod and you'll be fine.

Why would you give them 24 hours of dark? Any evidence that this helps the plants?

I still give my plants a period of darkness before I switch the photoperiod but Trichome Technologies of Oakland has done testing on this method and didn't find increases in yield or resin production. I trust TT but I still give them a dark period.

Is there anything related from TT you can show us, Cali? I've not heard of them and I'd love to see their findings.

K from Trichome Tech is coming out with a book soon I think. I'll try and root up some old stuff if I can find it here.
