Lighting Fixture Help

Would you guys be able to list some things I can get for cheap just by going to the hardware store?? I have a big ass box filled with Aluminum Foil to reflect light around the box.... Now all i need is a proper(cheap) lighting fixture/light ... Any help?

You're going to have to give us a bit more than that. I could reccomend 5 lights, many different fixtures. Help us help you....


How much money do you want to spend?
How much room do you have?
Are you hiding it from people in your home?

k, im willing to spend up to $80 for lighting/light fixtures
I have a Box that held a 29' TV (I dont know the dimensions)
Im holding it in a basement, and no im not hiding it from anyone besides the Po' aha

Instead of foil go to wall greens and get an emergency blanket, they are thin plastic sheets made in the same way maylar is except not so much metal on it, lighter shade. They fold up and can fit in ur pocket, marithon runner use em after races, they reflect the sun's rays away. Just cut it to the size you need and tape it to the inside of the box.

I hear wal-mart is cheap for good CFLs and Fixtures,Y fixtures for two bulbs. Also I might want to add some flouro tubes to the top of my grow cabnet and use the cfls for side lighting, but $ got me by the balls.

If you search around the forum for cfl or flourescent lighting you should get some other grow journals to get some Ideas. Also ICMag has a way more comprehensive forum you might wanna check it out, but you gotta wait 24hrs to process so you can post. Heres a real good link... gots a ton of do it yourself tutorials.

With $80 you could get a set of CFL's (enough to make both a veg and flower room, complete with lamp fixtures and Y-splitters) with some money left to buy some good nutes, extra soil, and other goodies. Or you could get a HPS light and ballast kit if you're handy. Or you could get a home security light (150 watt HPS... I don't know about cheapo MH alternatives). How much do you smoke? Do you want a perpetual grow with plants vegging and flowering at all times? Or is your pot intake low enough that you could wait between harvests and use one light to veg and flower? Many people combine CFL's for vegging with an HPS for flowering (that was my setup).
