First grow - 2 weeks into flowering * pics *

Started this grow almost 3 months ago, with bagseed.

managed to get 4/4 females! and also a friend has given me one of his plants to finnish off, he was only usin some 40 watt flouros.

I have a 600 watt hps and the plants are in bat mix soil in 10 litre buckets i cut holes into.

Started giving them ferts 2 weeks ago when flowering began, using ionic bloom.

How am I doing?

they look really great and happy..=) just a question why did you trim the one baby so much but yeah if your packin 600 watts for those 4 ladiess you'll be gettin some nice herbals mon keep it up they really look great

i trimmed the little one quite alot yea, just cos the lower branches and shoots had barely developed, and also the top of the plant had been badly burnt by my friends light so i thought topping would be the best bet for recovery.

I heard that cuttin off the lower branches that dont get much light speeds up growth in the higher areas = better buds

You had the right idea, but the whole plant was kinda crap, right? Under your light, the undergrowth would have taken right off, at least producing some bowl-filling buds. There wouldn't have been a problem leaving them on. Either way the plant will be better off than under the 40watt, so no one can complain.

yeah true you do have a good point,
think it was just a personal thing, the shoots at the bottom were smaller than the ones on top, and i just cudnt be bothered with them making some crappy popcorn buds when i cud sacrifice them and get larger denser buds on top.

built it myself out of white reflective sheeting + tape

dont buy bud boxes, you can make the same setup for 3 quid

its pretty messy tho cos i didnt plan it properly ahah

next time tho, this is all a learning process

are your plants 2 weeks into flowering or 2 weeks into 12/12?
they are definately looking good tho and nice homemade box.
btw: the trimming of the lower branches during flowering helps by pushing all the nutrients that the popcorn buds were taking up to the top colas, mostly creating denser more potent nugs, but either way they look great.

I'm curious about this. Under the 600w HPS, the lower branches would have gotten a good amount of light, right? Well they wouldn't stay popcorn buds long with the push 560 more high-intensity-watts would have given them, right? I guess my confusion is this:

Don't we only cut off lower budding sites if they aren't going to get adequate light? If the root system is acceptable, there should be enough nutrients for everyone, shouldn't there?

enuff4all2share i guess its just a matter of opinion, true the lower sites wud have got an ok amount of bud on, but il probably get around the same yeild overall maybe a bit less, but better buds. As the lower sites wud have always been smaller than the higher ones.

yea its all complete opinion on how you want your plants to grow
it just makes the top colas more potent for sure

usually people use this method with SCROG tho
so its up to you
