Hexter, after killing a few and stressing a lot, this worked out. Cups like that (12 oz?) weigh about 3 ozs with dry mix and you can safely add 1 1/2 -2 ozs water, then dont water again till the weight gets back near 3 ozs. Cheap walmart postal scales work great. Dont take these weights, check your own.. Just an idea...Good Luck Bro

That sounds like a good idea drfarm. But from the sound of it, it seems like I'm watering too much when I do! See, I have been waiting till they are really dry then putting each plant in a large bowl and giving each one 8oz. of dist. water through the soil. Around 2-3 oz will drain through into the bowl. I let the plant sit in the water for about 3 minutes and go on to the next plant and reuse the water left in the bowl.

Now as I am thinking of it, if there are nutes in that run off water and I reuse it on the next plant then wouldnt that eventually cause a build up of nutes?

And you said your using 1 1/2 to 2 oz water? I have been using 8 oz which was enough to saturate all the soil in the cup and drain some off....too much?

Sorry! I missunderstood you! But now I got it.

What about what drfarm said? Am I using a bad watering method?

Sorry if you took my last post as being sarcatic.Wasnt intended to be.

Anyway yea thats a good idea, but after you have a few grows completed you gain experiance.Sooner or later you will be able to know when to water/feed,etc.The dry period between waterings will benefit in overall health/growth.

Daily misting will weaken your leaves and leach nitrogen out of them. It is also putting more moisture back into the soil. My advice? Relax. Every person in their first grow will overparent. Water them, then don't do anything to 'em for a while. Watch them, yes. Talk to them, yes. But that's it. When they're dry, do it again. Watch for signs of what you can do for them, rather than trying to guess what they need. If your soil has good drainage, the temp/humidity is right, air is fresh and circulating, the lights are adequate and close enough, and the watering/feeding schedule is pH balanced and on course, you can't mess up. Thing is, I never paid attention to most of those things, took my plants for granted, and had some great ganja. The plant does the work... we just make the resources available.

Luckleaf2, I did not take your last message sarcastic at all. Thanks for responding and clearing it up. I'm so new I don't know if there was such a thing.

GigZ-16, yes I did get that thermometer from Home Depot and for the price it seems to be very accurate. I have compared it to a few high end commercial grade therms at my job and it is dead on.

Also, I seem to have different plants at different times seem to get sagging leaves. I cant figure it out because its not the same plant and when they do it it only lasts for several hours to a day and it goes back to normal with out me doing anything! I dont get it.

Here's my sitch:

1- I'm watering them only when they get good and dry and the soil is just the tiniest bit moist at 2" below the surface with distilled water. Misting them daily about 90 minutes before lights out with same distilled water.
2- My soil PH is exactly at 7.0 (How do I get it to 6.5?) I'm using MG Organic and added a 25%-30% mix of perlite.
3- No nutes as of yet.
4- Temps are around 80-85 degrees in the day and 70 or so at night.
5- Humidity has been difficult to control and variable from high 30% to low 50%
6- Fanning them off and on at varying times and rotating them around the box.
7- Lights are 18/6 @ 16,200 lumens of CFL daylight in a 2 square foot area and they are kept with-in 3 inches of the plants.
8- Area is wrapped in emergency blankets

Is my watering system too much? drfarm says 1-2 oz. is good, im using enough to saturate the whole cup of soil

My PH is a bit high. I heard that lemon juice or vinegar can lower it, but how do I apply it? In water on the soil, or a straight amount to the soil and how much to start?

I plan to use fertalizer next watering, at 1/4 strength, if I am over watering wont I be over fertalizing also?

Any suggestions on how to better control the humidity so it doesnt jump around so much?

Hey man I agree to stop misting them.

Only water them when you stick your finger in the soil and it is dry an inch deep.

Add vinegar or lemon juice to the water you plan to give them. Only use a little at a time. When you water them, water so there is run-off water comming out the drain holes.

Humidity is hard to control. Usually it goes up after they have been watered. If it is over 60% continuously, consider getting a dehumidifier. If it gets to low, put into the room a bucket of water and some wet towels.

Plants look pretty good.

Thanks alot for the info VTEC! One other thing if anyone out there can tell me. My leaves seems a bright green. Everyone elses seem to be very dark. Is that due to the age of my plants or are they lacking something?

Yeh man, it's bad to mist them in direct light and its probably hurting them more than it is helping. Just water them when the cup is light and your good. The leaves are probably all droopy from all that water that has been sitting on them. Your leaves look fine dude just be patient. They will proably turn darker as they get older.

Lol! Thanks for all the good advice everyone...and all the patience! I feel like a first time parent! I just want things to go good. I probably wont need to water them for several days so when I do I will begin the process of bringing down the PH with lemon juice. I will keep you all posted....or be back asking a hundred questions if anything wierd happens! lol! Thanks again all!

Plants should actually be off green. Usually plants that are super dark green have a bit much nitrogen in them. However degree of off green depends on strain. Indicas will generally be darker because they have more chlorophyll in their cell structures than the more equatorial sativas which have less chlorophyll.
