My veg tea varies between things to provide the big amounts of N... fish emulsion, rabbit shit, chicken shit, and veg NPK guano. I mix in a big tub with a stick then I add a capfull of superthrive and a capfull of molasses (small amount) to the tub and stir.
For flowering I use high P and low N guano, a few capfulls of molasses, and superthrive. I've tried organic liquid ferts (Tiger Bloom and Floralicious) but I doubt I'll ever buy them again. I think your topdressing will work but it will release the nutes very slowly, and theres a chance most of it could get washed away by rain. Imo if you really want to do a top dressing cover it with mulch or dirt after so it stays where you put it.
